Does this work for the father/daughter dance?

Re: Does this work for the father/daughter dance?

  • The video won't load on my phone : what's the song?

  • It looks like a nice song, but reading the lyrics...it seems a little depressing. Undecided I'd ask your dad what he thinks.
  • I think I'm 50/50 on it. Did your dad have any suggestions?

  • It's a beautiful song, and I LOVE Billy Joel. But I have to agree it sounds a little depressing, more like he lost someone or feels guilty. I'm dancing with my dad to The Beetles' "Here Comes the Sun." Does your dad have any opinions?
  • I saw that one on all the Father/Daughter lists, but I did think it was a little off for a wedding dance... Like PP said, did you ask your Dad? I had the hardest time trying to pick a song for my dad & I, then I asked him to pick one and it was totally not what I expected! (In a cute way though, it's Tim McGraw My Little Girl) I thought most of them were too emotional or sappy, but maybe that's how you're dad will feel on your wedding day...

I asked him to pick one, but he can't think of one, so the choice reverted back to me...and I can't figure one out either.  My dad likes old school rock (Zeppelin, Genesis, Yes, Queen, etc.), if anyone has any suggestions.  I was also considering "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin...thoughts (clicky)?  I really don't want a song that's been used a billion times, and nothing too sappy or cheesy.

Lullabye is what my dad and I are dancing to.  I think my dad thought it was a little weird, but it makes me cry everytime I hear it.  It is so sweet.  I know the lyrics aren't exactly for a wedding, but it's the meaning behind them that matters to me.  I looked at hundreds of songs and nothing else fit as well as Lullabye.  My dad is also into Queen, etc. and neither of us like country so that really narrowed down our choices.  I also didn't want anything overplayed or cheesy.  I almost picked "Beacause you love me" by Celine Dion, but it just wasn't doing it for me like Lullabye was.
