May 2012 Weddings

thought you girls might like this one...

So my FI used to be a lifeguard on the beach in Nags Head, NC. It was a very close knit group of people....but there were definitely cliques of people.

So flash forward to today. FI gets a Facebook message from a girl he used to work with. She's Canadian. FI never hung out with her -- in fact they didn't particularly like each other. She's friends with some of his friends, however. So a bunch of FI's friends are coming down for the wedding. This chick has the GALL to ask if she can come to the wedding!! VIA FACEBOOK!!! (SHE WAS NOT INVITED!!)

Also -- our wedding is very expensive. Like $250 a head....if not more. How does this chick think she can just score an invite -- to a wedding where she is not friends with the couple -- just because her friends are invited??!?

ok. vent over.

  • She's just looking for a chance to party with her friends! She's probably jealous that she's not invited and all her friends are talking about going to your wedding. Incredibly tacky to ask that way and assume she'd be invited. I wouldn't be surprised if she tagged along as someone's +1 (if thats an option). Even though she was terribly rude, I'd have FI write back and politely say that due to budget you are unable to invite anymore guests at this time.

  • Jeez! I just don't understand how people can be so rude! Of course there have been times I wish I was invited to old friends' weddings, but I would NEVER ask if I was invited or ask to be invited.

Being engaged and planning a wedding has really opened my eyes to how rude and crazy people can be lol! Not just from my own experience but from reading everyone else's stories. I agree with PP...she might tag along as a +1 (yikes!)

  • Rude much? Never ceases to amaze me how tacky people can be. Hope you told her hell no!
  • I love when people ask! (not!)

I would just give her a no and tell her you are trying to keep the evening an intimate affair.
