So annoyed at guest!

Hey ladies! I'm getting married May 12th (yay!). I don't think I've ever posted on my month board, but I wanted to tell this to other people who might be going through similar things while getting RSVPs back.

I just got an RSVP back that added "+ 2 boys!!!" to their card (didn't even bother to write their names). Envelope was clearly addressed to adults, and they live in the town that the wedding is in, so there isn't even the excuse of "but we live far away and don't know any babysitters there."

I called up the mother (a very distant step relative) and explained that we are unable to accommodate kids (we're not having any), we're hoping she and her husband will still be able to make it, blah blah blah. Her answer was, "But their grandparents are going to be at the wedding." Um. Okay. Sorry?

Then she told me that she can let me know for sure the night before the wedding whether they will be there, and even then something might change the day of the wedding. I know that some people who RSVP'd "yes" will not actually be there, and I have made peace with that, but she's practically planning on being a "maybe" up until the ceremony starts.

I told her I needed an answer 5 days before the wedding. But I'm super annoyed. I get the feeling this is this woman's first wedding to ever attend or something. She's treating it like a summer family picnic, not a formal evening event.

I'd call her and say you need numbers for food on x date, if they dont know by then, then you are sorry but you are going to plan for them to not make it and not include them in your numbers. period no wiggle room. Now if they had a reasonable reason to wait till 5 days (someone might be in the hospital dying), i wouldnt be that harsh, but honestly, people can find a babysitter more then 5 days out and theres few other reasons (maybe health of a close reletive but short of that....they just need to decide) someone wouldnt know if they can make it to a WEDDING long before that, unless they are mearly deciding if they WANT to make it or not...in which case they can decide that by the rvsp date.
