Need advice

Ok so...

I have an issue...my dress doesnt fit...and wedding is in 7 weeks...feasbly im not gonna be able to loose alot of weight between now and then to make sure dress gonna fit day of...and if i did...im not going to be a happy bride..lets just put it that way...

My first mistake..was buying my dress so early...2nd was..settling..yes I loved it then..but deep down It was on sale..it was pretty..was totally different look then first wedding dress ever was...and it "fit"...

Looking back to what is not fitting yesterday...it was doing this when I bought the dress just slightly not as bad...because Im not gonna lie...with all the deaths so close together in my family over winter..I did gain a bit..but my jeans are falling off me and im down  2 sizes from what I was then!!! So Im at a complete loss..

Ive been crying over it since last night..FI tried calming me down and telling me I could walk down  in a bridesmaid dress and he'd be happy..its not about the dress...which is True..but doesnt ease my mind.

My biggest question is....do I try as hard as I can and really be screwed if I dont loose enough...or do I chalk up the 100 dollar loss and pray to God I can find a better dress in time??? off the rack??!!  and hope I feel beautiful in it..because yesterday I felt fat and ugly...and everyone telling me i looked pretty werent helping GRR

Am I over reacting or being honest???  My mom said we can go next sat and make a day of it and check out a different Davids Bridal ( so done with the one ive been going to) and a different Higher end shop...and just hope I can afford it :(

Re: Need advice

  • Can you afford to look for another dress if you can then if you don't love the dress then look for another one

  • i agree -- if your dress doesn't make you feel like a million bucks then try and find another one!

  • I can afford as long as FI keeps having good weeks at work in tips...and knowing his mom she will offer..she been offering to pay for everything lately..and we keep saying no on some...as long as i could keep it under 500 it would be doable
  • I would definitely try to find another dress! You deserve to feel beautiful on your special day.

  • oh man :( what a sucky situation :(

you could start trying to lose weight to fit in the dress you have AND look for a dress at the same time and see which one happens first...

if it makes you feel any better i think all of us have gone through a phase where we feel fat and ugly, no matter what our size is!  it's a woman thing for sure :-/

good luck!  i'm sorry i don't have anything better to tell you
  • Whew! thank you ladies...I was afraid I was being crazy and needed a slap lol...I mean I dont Hate my dress..love certain aspects of it..just overall between weight and my own self image...im not happy with it...I know I can loose at least another 10 lbs..but thats not gonna come off my butt and hips which is where the dress wont fit...

I guess I will look for another and go from there...:) Thanks bunches..Im already feeling a little bit better...

I tried this dress on about a month ago at DEB and eh...still kinda against it...granted it prolly gone by now...but it does have the bottom that my bridesmaids have (minus my bra strap) but it hides my bad areas better..but def. will try bridal salon first though...DEB as last resort..their quality isnt the best.

  • I think if you aren't in love with your dress, I would keep looking for the one :)

  • Can the dress be altered affordably? Maybe if you take it to a local seamstress (rather then DB or a wedding store), they might have some ideas of how to fix it. I think this late in the game, trying to make the dress fit you where you are at now is probably the best option, or finding one that you can buy off the rack with no alternations needed at all. I wouldnt count on losing the weight, (but dont give up!!! You never know!), but I do think your original dress is gorgeous and it would be a shame to replace with something that you STILL dont love because you have such limited time to look.

this!  This is the perfect solution, try to lose weight, keep looking for a dress you love and the right option will come your way.  Whether it be the lost weight or the perfect dress.  Just know that no matter what - like your FI said - he doesn't care if you walk down the aisle in a trash bag, he is supporting you and can't wait to marry you.  Which should hopefully give you enough motivation to try and stay positive and find a solution that works.

    GL!!!
