Wrinkled/Creased Linens?

So to save $500+ we decided to do our own linens from Linen Tablecloths.com. They're great. They're in labeled packages. And, as a bonus, we already have someone lined up to purchase them when we're done with them after next weekend! The only problem is, since they've been sitting folded in bags, they have creases. I think I can be okay with having creased tablecloths (As opposed to trying to iron 30 tablecloths and somehow still keep them without creases and clean until we get them to the venue the day before). However, is this something I should aesthetically be very concerned about? We're getting married in a rose garden so it's not super formal and each table has a burlap table runner on top of the tablecloth.

In other words, is this something more than the fenicky type is really going to notice/care about/remember? And, should I care even if they do?

  • Since you've got runners, they should be okay. I'd probably do a test set up if possible, lay out a full table and see how it looks. If it doesn't bother you, that's what matters!

  • I'm obsessive-compulsive about the overall look of my wedding, so that would bother me.  But I'm weird.  FWIW, I made our table runners, and I ironed all of them until they were wrinkle free...it's part of the sewing process, make sure they are even and stuff.  Then I rolled them all up (together) and stored them in a big plastic bag.  No (or at least minimal) wrinkles or dust. :)
  • I'm picky as well. I mean, my mom and I steamed 215 chair covers. If the wrinkles don't bother you, then I'd just leave it.

  • That would bother me...I also purchased my own linens and I'm taking them to the dry cleaners to be pressed prior to the wedding

  • Yea, I thought about having them pressed, but our dry cleaner charges $2.95 PER FOOT of tablecloth. So that's out.

  • How much time do you have to set up the day before?  We are doing our own set up on Friday before the wedding and I plan on toting my iron & board and pressing them right there as we go.  Otherwise, the idea of rolling them together sounds the best if you decide to try to get the wrinkles out.
  • We're having the wedding at a museum type venue so the only set-up time is two hours before the wedding since the venue is still open during the day. Our caterer and the venue are doing the set-up.

  • If you're okay with it then don't worry about it.

  • We got ours from the same place.  We did a test run in the dryer for 15min on high/medium heat and the wrinkles almost all came out.  We might leave them in longer because we will be doing more than one at a time but beats trying to iron them all!
