Question

Has anyone ever heard of having guests at the wedding fill out anniversary cards that are to be mailed on future anniversaries?

FI remembers hearing someone tell us about it, but I can't remember the specifics.

to be mailed no...to be opened yes. My FI's cousin who got married last year did this in leu of a guest book, they had cards numbered 1-80 (they doubled up on some of the milestone numbers untill they were around the number of guests they invited) on a table at the reception and asked guests to write a piece of advice or a memory on them and they would open them on that anniversary. Might be easier then mailing...

Yes!  My friend did this at her wedding last year.  Her aunt walked around and gave everyone a number and a card with a number to write for their anniversary.  She did it during the cocktail hour.  It was pretty fun and sweet, but a bit awkward to come up with something so quickly.  She's one of my best friends and I wanted it to be really sweet, but I was distracted by everything going on.  I think the plan was that her mom will mail them to her and her H at each anniversary.

We did this at my SIL's shower.  But we didn't assign anniversaries.  People wrote a note, put it in an envelope, and labeled the envelope with the date/anniversary they should open it.

My SIL and Brother loved it, and I'm secretly hoping they do this during my shower, too :)

this. even if at a wedding, its much easier for them to open one envelope a year then it is to try to have people mail something years later.

Thanks. I like the idea of having it at the shower. I'll have to see if I can put the idea in the mix for the girls.

I've heard of having something written by the guests to be opened on future anniversaries, but not mailed. I saw a cool idea on Pinterest: Let's say you were sitting at Table 12, the B&G had each guest at that table write a letter to them that they would open on their 12th anniversary. They did this with every table. I thought it was neat!
