has anyone drafted their reception schedule yet?

we need help!  we haven't started our reception schedule yet and FI is coordinating everything with the band and we need to figure out what we're doing and in what order so they can be prepared for it.

could y'all post your reception schedule to help give me an idea of where to start?!

  • Here is our (VERY) rough draft.

We are doing things a little differently.  We are not having a cocktail hour.  Our ceremony is in the same location as the reception.  After the ceremony, guests will move to the reception hall and find a seat.  Guests will be dismissed by table to the buffet line for dinner.  Therefore, our guests will me moving through the line and eating as we take photos.  Our plates will be prepared for us and placed at our tables.  Also, we are doing our bouquet and garter toss early... this is so we can have guests move outside so tables can be taken up to make more room for dancing.

5:20- Food is blessed & first table is called to the buffet line
    6:00- WP Entrance / introductions
6:10- Bride & Groom first dance
6:15- Bride, Groom, and WP eat greet guests
6:45- Guests are asked to go outside for garter and bouquet toss
    7:00- Cake Cutting
7:15- Father / Daughter Mother / Son dances (still trying to talk FI into doing Mother / Son dance)
    7:30-10:30- Dancing
    10:45- Send off

  • woo!  thanks!  these will give me a good place to start.  i tried to explain to FI that we have to have things scheduled like this and he's afraid it's going to be too regimented (or something) but my argument is that if we don't have some sort of idea of what time we want all these things to happen then mass chaos will ensue!!!  haha
