NWR: I suprised the FI - let me tell you, we needed it!

So yesterday I (some how) managed to be done early so I decided to take our girls (furbabies) to the park for a walk. I'd been super stressed over the FI"s SUPER low RSVP yes count (12 people, seriously?!) and well, the waterfall that came through our bedroom ceiling Tuesday morning.

Anyways, as I was walking them I realized, if I'm this stressed I bet he is too. And so the plot thickens. I loaded the girls back into the car and decided to surprise the FI with a picnic dinner at the park.

Once I got home I created little riddles (that rhymed) and taped them around our apartment so it would send the FI on a scavenger hunt. The last clue was taped to the garage door and told him to go to the park. (Btw, it took me FOREVER to make all this stuff rhyme and sound cute). -- So then I loaded up a card table and camping chairs as well as the girls' tie-outs. Then stopped at MCL's carry out for fried chicken meals and strawberry shortcake desserts. Then off to the park we went.

About 20mins after I got everything set up I saw the FI's jeep rolling through the park and he found us. He was SO excited. His face was glowing all night -- with all the stress from life and the wedding, it was nice to see him smile again.

Long story short, after dinner we took the girls on a walk around the park and then went home and let our brains just veg. - it was wonderful. :)

  • That is so sweet it actually made me tear up a little.  I can completely relate (I'm sure we all can!) and hope I get the opportunity to do something like that for my FI.

careful what you wish for, we've had one hell of a week (and not in a good way). Maybe do it as a "2 weeks" or "1 week, let's get away"  milestone?  :)

  • I agree I may need to steal this idea! That is so fabulous and so glad he liked it! I think we all need good fun date nights soon!
  • Such a sweet idea!

I'm hoping to be able to do something like this when I see FI again when he comes back for the wedding... a few days beforehand or something along those lines :)

  • That is too sweet!

  • Aww I wish I could do that! But FI is home all day (short term disability), so I can't surprise him anymore!
  • Very sweet of you.  FI surprised me with flowers today because I'm so wedding stressed, but you got me thinking I should do something for him too!!
  • That was so sweet of you to do. We are so consumed with our weddings and getting stressed out over all the dumb details we forget that our guys could be stressed out too. I need to do something sweet for my guy because he deserves it.
  • That is so sweet of you!! What a great idea

  • That is so sweet and it sounds like exactly what you both needed.

Now you've got me thinking! All we've been doing and thinking about is wedding related and I feel like the rest of our life is on hold right now. We both talk about how we can't wait for the honeymoon and the summer to just be "normal". I kind of don't want to wait and think I should come up with something this weekend just to have the break. Thanks for sharing!!!
