Ok so ...About a year ago, FI and I moved in with my inlaws so that we could save for our wedding. we were originally renting a place. We originally didnt plan anything huge, but his father and mother invited everyone under the sun at our expense and our budget pretty much tripled. We have paid for everything. To "help" us, they allowed us to occupy their basement and pay them rent. We were able to pay for the wedding which wound up going well above what we planned on spending....About a month ago we found out we stilled owed a lot more then we expected however, i worked this out and i was able to get everything but the tips paid for right now (and i have a month + to come up with another 1200 bucks which should be no problem)
Fast forward...we come to find out that my FI have not paid their mortgage in almost 2 years at the house. Originally they put the house on the market...and no one was buying because they wanted way too much. They got one offer, and the house sold...but the buyer lost his job and it actually bought us about 8 more months of living there and saving (Grateful for this)....Last week they lowered the price to 255K which is almost 70K less then their original asking price. They got another buyer. This time the sale is going through and we have to be out by June 1
My wedding is May 27 and i have to be out by June 1. FI and I currently are in the market for a house, but due to grant money and savings which we cant touch till July we cant go to contract on anything. We did get a rather large chunk of cash from FI biological father...but we are trying to get a downpayment of around 50K together to avoid PMI and keep our mortgage down to an affordable level since my FI has back issues and with his surgery etc. we are unsure when he will be back working. I cant really afford to do a 2K a month mortgage on my own this second.
So....i am really lost right now. I dont want to sign another lease and rent again for a year. We have no friends that would allow us to stay a month either while we look for homes. But this sucks...the timing is absolutely horrible. Not to mention that all the guys were supposed to be staying at my inlaws the night before the wedding. where will they sleep...on the floor or on boxes.
FI parents have no idea where they are going to live either. His mom keeps saying not to worry,...but she is probably going to VA to live with FSIL and her family leaving me, my FI, and my other FSIL who finishes nursing school a week before our wedding and a FBIL who will be coming back from Afghanistan with no place to go.
Im really annoyed that we werent really informed about the likelyhood of us having to be out in June until now. Originally they kept telling us Christmas this year...which was plenty of time to find a home, close and move. I dont know how this is all going to happen with everything wedding related going on.
