Photos of side ponytail hair dos?

Hi ladies,
I had my hair trial a couple of weeks ago and while I loved the look of the style from the back, from the front I looked waaay too Princess Leia (it's actually the first thing FI said to me when he saw me which figures since he's a huge Star Wars nerd :) So I'm trying to think of plan b hair dos. I like side ponytail styles but I haven't found any pictures of styles that I loved so I was wondering if any of you in your wedding planning had come across any? Nothing too 80s or high lol, but something low, curled. I like the side ponytail look because it would let me show off the back of my dress and yet still be "controlled" for the day.

TIA to anyone that might be of help!

Okay, I spoke too soon as I found two online that I liked:

My only worry is my veil which is a mantilla and for anyone not familiar with it, this is what it looks like:

I wasn't planning on wearing it like the girl in the picture as I wanted to comb it into the top portion of the bun/ponytail part but would the veil still look too odd with a side ponytail? I'm only going to be wearing the mantilla for the ceremony...

I love a side pony!  I'm a little worried that with the mantilla veil, though, that it will look a little "too much".  I'm trying to picture it with the veil you showed.

Would it be possible to do something like- have your side pony done and set, but have it pinned back into loose bun or something while the veil is on, then pull it loose for the reception?  That way it would be out of your face a little bit and out of the way of the veil.

I agree w/ LaFemme - I love the idea of pinning it up somehow to keep it out of the way of the veil but then letting it down into the 'side ponytail' for the reception! I also love the carrie underwood pic! SO pretty! Is your hair really long??

FSIL did a side pony for my wedding, I don't know how well you can see it in the pic though.

I found this one on The Knot when I was considering a side pony tail!

Thanks ladies for all of your help!

Jen & Gianna-That's a wonderful idea about pinning the pony into a bun for the ceremony portion. I def. want the veil to be the center of attention for the ceremony.
And yes Gianna, my hair is VERY long and VERY thick lol! As we were leaving the salon, a lady even stared at me for the longest time because she thought I was wearing hair extensions in the up-do lol. I am planning on getting a major cut post-wedding :)

Ros-Thanks so much for the photo. I know the Knot had had this one before but didn't want to take the time to scour the image gallery :)

Kbielak-Thanks for posting the image of your FSIL. Loved her style and I could make it out.

Ok, it's not a side ponytail - but VeronaBrit had the most amazing wedding - and I adore her hair! I do think that you could adapt the hairstyle into a side ponytail.

Here's the link to her pro photos:
