Florida

Any ladies from florida or have been there? We are going on a cruise for our honeymoon and leaving from Port of Miami, does anyone know a good place to stay for an afforable price for 2 nights (thurs/fri)? having never been there and looking on the internet its hard to figure out whats what, we dont want to stay in a ghetto and will need access, transit or shuttle to/from the airport and the port of miami.

  • Most hotels in Downtown, Airport and surroundings have some kind of transportation to the Port of Miami. I like to stay at the Hampton Inn Coconut Grove (http://www.hamptoninncoconutgrove.com/). Coconut Grove is a nice and QUIET neighborhood close to downtown. Unfortunately, you NEED a car in Miami and this hotel has free parking. The hotel also has a cruise package with two one-way transports to POM. The downtown area is the closest from the port and there is more nightlife. Downtown has Bayside MarketPlace (http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/) that is a touristic mall with tons of souvenirs, local and chain restaurants and boat rides. Mary Brickell Village (http://www.marybrickellvillage.com/) is another ‘eat and play’ area. Downtown is the only area in Miami that you don’t need a car; there is Metrorail (train) and metromover (free monorail). In downtown, we stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites Miami Brickell Downtown (http://www.hamptoninnmiamibrickel.com/), but there is an $18 a day parking fee. This hotel also has a cruise package but it is a short $10 cab to the port.
