David's Bridal for B-Maids

Good morning to everyone.  So we have to use David's Bridal for our B-maid dresses as some out of town maids only have a DB near them.  So yesterday I made an appointment to go in and shop at the end of this month.  I went online to see what they have and I am a little worried.  Their website is a little confusing - so I figured I would ask to see what everyone's experience in store was like.  I did a search for dresses that were Mercury (I want short & chiffon) and only TWO dresses came up!!!  Starting to get worried.

  • Which one are you going to?

I went to the one on McKnight for my BM dress for my friend's wedding and hated it.  They made me feel fat, it was so incredibly busy, the lady had two other appointments, and oh yeah, when my dress came in they let the maid of honor TAKE MINE even though I had paid for it and it was in my name (and thus I didn't try it on until like, right before the wedding).  Needless to say, I won't be going there for BM dresses.

  • The number one thing about David's bridal-your experience will vary SO MUCH based on your consultant. I had Jamie, and she was AMAZING (at the DB on McKnight!). She put up with me wearing "my" dress for an hour, then me insisting that I had to go to my next appointment, and then coming back after a meltdown at the other salon, to finally order my dress. And she was great with the bridesmaids dresses too.. My advice, try not to go on a saturday.. It's their busiest day.

I was in the same situation as you-bridesmaids from all over, so  I went with DB for ease of ordering. They didn't have a ton of options  I loved, but I did find the "one" for the Bridesmaids, and this way my girls don't have to get measured and wear a dress they've never seen.
I will say this: I wanted short dresses originally, but their short is WAY too short for my church.

Overall, my experience was great! Good Luck!
  • I got my BM dresses from DB in Monroeville.  I took all the girls at once - 7 - and my consultant handled it beautifully.  Like PP, do not go on a weekend b/c they will be busy and rush.  Good luck and remember - you do not have to really love the dress, just like it.  They have to wear it, pay for it, and feel pretty in it for themselves and great pictures.  Relax - all will work out.
  • We are going to go to the one in Robisnon.  I'm kind of on the fence about going with David's Bridal.  The maids out of state have a store near them that carries they Alfred Angelo line and every dress they carry comes in every color.  I posted on those city boards to see if anyone has any reviews of the stores. I think in the long run it might be easier to go with Alfred Angelo, plus I already had an amazing experience there when I went shopping for my wedding dress.

  • If you are going with DB in robinson ask for your appt to be with Janene (sp?).  She is wonderful!!!!  I ended up with DB after a nasty appt at AA, it was my own fault but I let the expert derail me in what I wanted for something she thought would be better (she had just gotten engaged and maybe planning her own wedding at that very moment lol).
If you go to DB in robinson I urge you to ask for Janene.  She was great with my BM and me and was very relaxed.

  • DB varies so much on who you get as a consultant. I went to the DB on McKnight for a friend's wedding and tried on dresses there for my own wedding. We had a fine time both times.

  • I worked with Jamie at DB's on McKnight Rd as well! Love her! We also used to volunteer together!
I'm on the fence about bmaid dresses from DB's just bc I'm not overly impressed by any of them,  and they don't have as many variations of green as I would like, but also have maids from out of town. So I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I still have time and am hoping they will come out with new ones before it's time to start looking for real.
  • I've had a mixed experience at the McKnight DB.  For my sister's wedding, she chose long dresses in fern green.  Half of the bridal party placed their order in April.  The "deadline" for us to order was by the end of May, so that we would get them in time for any necessary alterations.  Without notifying the bride or any of the bridesmaids who had not yet ordered, DB discontinued the dress in the fern color.  Fortunately that same week my other sister went in to order her dress, which is how the bride found out.  Fortunately, there was a dress close to my sister's size in Kentucky and another dress close to the other bridesmaid's size in another state.  They were initially going to charge the bridesmaids shipping costs, but after my mother complained for them about how it was DB fault for discontinuing something in mid-production, they dropped the shipping costs.  Guess my advice is to make sure your color or dress won't be discontinued, because they do switch out colors frequently.
I found bridesmaid dresses for my girls at a bridal shop in Zelienople.  The quality and cut of the fabric is excellent and the Alexia dress was sixty dollars less than the ones I had been interested in at DB!  Score!

    Best wishes!
