Why did I decide to do my own invites? Vent

Seriously, I love my invites, I do. The finished product is going to look freaking awesome. But between glueing all the damn pockets on, having major issues with Catprint, and now I just found out my envelopes weren't shipped on time and now will not be here until Monday - well I just want to scream! I was really hoping to get everything put together and at least get the OOT invites out on Saturday, but it looks like I'll have to wait until Monday for the envelopes. Uhgg. At least I don't work until 6PM on Monday so hopefully I can get most of them sent!

Seriously, if anyone ever asks me if DIY invites are worth it, I'm going to tell them HELL NO! Lol :-P

Thanks for listening ladies. I know I'm kind of an infrequent poster, but I do appreciate all of you! :)

  • Awe that is frustrating, I am horrible at DIY stuff. Good luck finishing them up! You still have time before you have to get them out because typically invites go out between 6 and 8 weeks before.

  • Pockets would be annoying. I would definitely do it again since my DIY invites are prettier than any storebought ones I've ever found... but ours are simple - just a few layers of paper stuck together with double sided tape and tied together with a ribbon on top to secure the looser papers.

There were some speedbumps like vellum to work with though, I agree it was alot more work!

  • I made my own pocketfolds too, and wow was that a project! But I started back in December ... which was a brilliant decision. The entire invite-creation procession took some four months, but I'm really glad I did them in the end. At the same time, I was sooooo excited to get those in the mail!
  • Look at Zips or Zots (instead of glue) ... they seriously saved our sanity when we were doing our invites. I bought them at Michael's.

    I didn't do pocketfolds though.

Good luck and keep at it!
  • Oh the pockets are done already (finally, I've been doing them for like 4 months now!). And I tried pretty much every glue/tape/dots available, and they only thing that held without warping the paper or giving it too much bulk was a heavy duty scrapbooking gluestick! Craziness. I actually liked using it better than the tape - it was easier to put it on a small space.

I'm just waiting on Catprint to get my stuff to me - they screwed up my order but it should finally be here today!
  • I did DIY, but my invites are super simple. I did one piece of cardstock with a color design on the front, a RSVP poscard with matching color front and B&W back, and an insert using color business cards.

I was so not up to tackling complex invites! Good luck, I'm sure they will be beautiful!
