Loosing my mind....long!

This weekend was SO busy and I'm started to go crazy!

We met with the DJ and the reception coordinator yesterday.

We finalized all of the songs for the entrances, dances, and do not play list and everything is going to be great. The DJ is now paid in full and the next time we see him, we'll be married!

For the reception, we went over everything and my head is still spinning. I found out that we need to provide our own votives/candles for the tables which is fine, my Dad works at a school that has lots of functions and he can borrow 70 or so votives for the wedding.

We decided on the sides for our meals, which I had no clue was going to be such a confusing process....we choose potatoes with the beef and risotto with the chicken, but this literally took us 15 minutes to decide. ugh!

We also had a little confusion about the bar situation. We were going to do just beer/wine/non alcoholic drinks. Which was all fine with everyone since the day we/my parents signed the contract....then I told my Dad who said "well maybe we should add more options for the cocktail hour only" thats fine with me, it's his $ to spend, but I wish I had know before that he wanted that so that I wouldn't have to send another "slight change" email.

I've been email the rest of the vendors all day today to finalize things, set up final meetings etc.

I've also been trying my hardest to figure out the stupid @ss seating chart and its a nightmare. FI's parents are divorced and going to be seated separately for dinner. FI's Dad has a total of 5 family members who will be sitting with him, but we need to fill the table to at least 8 and can't think of anyone who would want to sit with FI's Dad's family...

FI and I also need to finalize the ceremony readings etc, which, if we sit down and do it together might take us about an hour. But we seems to be so busy and before I know it, it's late and we have to go to bed.

I just want everything to go smoothly, I want the seating chart to be complete so that I can start the place cards (another big task) and I want people to tell me what they want before I go ahead and make any other decisions so that I'm not having to back track. I want to choose the ceremony readings so that I can get the programs printed. I need to go to AC Moore for some more crafts, and I have to return a bunch of stuff....I just seem to have no time!

I'm going to be so busy from now until the wedding and I'm starting to get overwhelmed, I'm tired, cranky and emotional! ugh

*On a good note, I got 8 bags of kit kat minis at stop and shop today for $0.95/bag! now I only need 6 more types of candy for the candy bar to be complete!*

  • breathe. Our wedding is the 11th, so I'm right there with you on this. I'm trying SO hard not to get overwhelmed with everything going on. I too am sending 1 million "slight change" emails todays, lol. I'm totally a Type A personality so here's my tip -- try to put faith in your vendors. You screened them, choose them and have been working with them for atleast a few months. This isn't their first go-around, so no many how many times you tweak the plan, they should have your back.

As for finishing the ceremony, maybe do it over dinner? The FI and I have crazy schedules but 99% of the time we make time in the day to have dinner together. This would be a great time to tackle the ceremony readings. -- matter of fact, we are still finalizing ours too -- but overall,  i think you're right on track  :)

  • Loosing your mind? Looks like you got a lot of things done! Most of the things you have done are things I will check off this week!

    Thank you!

You're right, I'm not the first bride they've ever worked with so they know how crazy it can get and probably expect all the emails and changes anyway!

I'm going to talk to FI tonight and schedule a time for us to sit and do nothing but read through the booklet with all the ceremony "stuff" so we can just get it done, and I can stop worrying about it! I woudn't care if it was over dinner, or even between commercials if we're watching tv (we could easily do one piece of the ceremony during each commercial break if we were watching tv at night!)

  • Don't worry I'm sure we've all been there/are there/will be there at some point during the wedding planning!

Get all the important stuff done and then worry about the other stuff. Like programs, does anyone really need programs?

2 1/2 weeks is still a lot of time to get stuff done!
