HELP!!!

Ok..soo i have 2 MOH, since both dont have much money i thought they could help each other..well only one did ANYTHING throughout the entire wedding process (my friend). the other..MY SISTER..hasnt done anything..correction..she made rigatoni for my shower...

ok..soo im getting married in a catholic church..I need 2 witnesses..usually it is the best man and MOH....well i have 2 MOHs...all along it was suposed to be my sister..but she has done nothing but made my wedding planning miserable ..she complained about anything i asked her to do, and she basically told me that she will *show up at the wedding*.. soo now I was going to have it be my best friend since she is coming to my house for next week to help plan..get stuff ready..help me relax...

soo no matter what i choose..someone will be mad.  i feel like it should be my sister but the last 3 years all we have done is fight..and i dont really want her up there..but i DO want my friend up there...

help...

Re: HELP!!!

  • I would honestly get someone else, a meaningful aunt or something else do it if you feel like having only one of hthem sign might cause hurt...it doesnt matter who signs just someone whos a legal adult who can witness, at the end of the day it doesnt matter. So either just pick one (if you told your sister she was going to, I would just leave it...its a 30 second witness signature), or pick someone else entirely.

  • The only responsibility of a MOH is to be at the wedding and stand next to you. They aren't required to help. Not letting family be a witness to your marriage because she didn't want to help (something she isn't required to do) is kind of rude. Is it worth seriously damaging the relationship with your sister over that?

  • You can pick whoever you want to wittness your wedding.

Thankfully, in Florida, we no longer have to do that.

Same as Heather - luckily in Texas you don't have to have two witnesses! We're doing that just because we can, but I probably wouldn't if I was in this mess.

Maybe ask your mom to witness instead? This way neither of your MOHs can be upset at each other. I think in the long run it'll be important to you that a family member witnessed and since you're upset with your sister right now your mom may be the next best alternative.

    Good luck!

  • I agree, I'd pick someone else besides either MOH.  I might mention to the MOH who has been very helpful that you'd love to have her, but that you know if you do your sister will have a fit.
