MAC makeup

My hair and makeup trial was last Sunday and they used MAC makeup. The next day I started to break out a little bit. I usually have good skin unless it's around that time of the month so I'm thinking it was the makeup. I don't know what I should do...not worry about it and let them still do my makeup and if I break out then the wedding will be over or should I do DIY makeup and find better makeup for my skin?

Re: MAC makeup

  • IMO it's not worth the risk of breaking out on the day of. Were you at a salon or at an actual MAC place? If you have the option of using just a different foundation and keeping other elements you liked about it, I would call and tell them your concerns and see if you can get another trial.

    Good luck!

  • MAC makeup is pretty high quality - do you usually wear makeup (like foundation?)  I'd probably break out no matter what type of makeup I wore.  If you don't normally wear it, it's probably just your skin breaking out from not being used to it.

  • I would call and let the salon know, and schedule another trial with different makeup.

<div>My skin is terrible as well (or would be if I didn't keep to a very strict regimen) - combination oily/dry skin, prone to break outs, and eczema.  I usually hate foundation, but the MAC stuff my MUA used on me was amazing.</div>

  • MAC is professional quality, I have super oily skin that likes to break out easily, and I have never had any problems with it. Maybe try bare minerals for your face makeup, and use MAC for your eyes? The pigmentation in their eye makeup really cant be beat, its pretty much the best quality out there that is available to the public. Bare minerals is super gentle on your skin too, I've never had any issues with it either. I say try a bunch of stuff DIY and find what works best for you, and then have your MUA use that on your big day.

  • I would definitely not let them use it again! This is what trials are for. If you're breaking out have them use something else and if that isn't an option go to someone else. I'm DIYing my makeup because I have uber sensitive/acne prone skin and I can't afford to have a professional put crap on my face that I am probably allergic to anyways :)
  • I would probably call them & see what they suggest. I'm sure they've dealt with a similar situation before & would have some advice for you! GL!
