Ok so I just need to vent and this is not really public knowledge in our family circle. My FI was never divorced from his ex-wife. They were seperated for 13 years, she moved on YEARS ago and has 2 kids with her guy etc. We've been together over 6. Just one of those things that it cost so much, never got done and she wouldn't cough up half.
So we finally had enough to get it done and have our wedding. So we did all the paperwork, easy peasy, they had no kids, been seperated that long, neither has any actual property in their name etc. Just sign here and here please and we're done. Yeah... TX Law sucks.
So because the EX has 2 kids.... 4 and 2 yrs. My FI couldnt get divorced. He had to go to the Atty Gen office and deny paternity of those kids!!! He's not on the birth cert, never even seen them. Heck he hasn't seen her in person but once in 10 years and that's when she signed the divorce papers. Oh my geeeezzz! So we had to cough up an extra $750 for an attorney to get it all taken care of on top of the filing fees we already paid. And of course she says she can't help with any of it.
I am just so aggravated. We live paycheck to paycheck as it is. I have done everything DIY and kept our ceremony very small and inexpensive. This crap is costing almost as much as our entire wedding does. Now, we can't afford to have any kind of food at all and will have no honeymoon what's so ever.
honestly all that really matters in my heart is that we end up married, but I'm just so aggravated that we did everthing we were supposed to and waited and watched our pennies to have a small, special day with ONLY the people that are important to us and then this happens.
the only thing that is keeping me sane is that evidently God has been watching over us through the entire process, because it was just before all this happened that I found out about my boss giving me a monthly bonus that will cover our rehearsal dinner and some minor monthly expenses.If it weren't for that we'd probably have to think about postponing.
I just needed to vent and get it off my chest. I'm just so angry with her because she acts like she shouldn't have to do anything to get this done. Yet her man is evidently PO'd that this was never taken care of before.
