Reception Site Construction OMG

So.... construction on my reception site was supposed to be done weeks ago. So the actual door you enter (you know the one with the name over it) is now not open to guests, the bathrooms in the building next to the room are under renovation still (not operable), and the entire setup I had for guestbook, escort cards, etc is now not workable and I need a new area- as in difference is instead of table against a wall it's now backed by windows everywhere and entirely across the room.

Okay so the biggest annoyance here is there are no signs for the guest indicating where they need to go (I was there today at the begining of a reception and there were just some grumpy people telling me the door wasn't open and "go around").

The bathrooms are now in another building which is ok but not ideal. But no signs on where they were.

So now with 1 week to go, family coming into town soon... I guess my day of solo hiking is now getting nixed for making damn signs (which can not be pushed into the ground so can not be stakes) and figuring out someone to put them out.

Really? my rehearsal might be held in the street and my reception site didn't tell me that there is construction and the entry way and bathrooms are closed?

Sheeps. Onto plan D.

Re: Reception Site Construction OMG

  • Blargh. That is super annoying. Can you ask the hotel if they can make signs directing people? Honestly that should totally be their responsibility. You shouldn't have to deal with this kind of crap, especially with only a week to go.

  • oh, that's terrible. I agree with PP on asking venue to make the signs or do something that isn't just "grumpy people" directing them. I would be bad at asking for this but I've got a couple of really charming/persuasive people in my camp (my FBIL and one of my sisters) that would be happy to get them to do some signs for me.

Sounds like you need a day of hiking to relax! Ask someone else to do this task for you and enjoy that hike.

  • That is so annoying, but I think your guests will understand that you obviously didn't plan for the construction as they were supposed to be done by now. I would either ask the venue to make signs (they should!), but maybe that is something you can do if they don't.

I am so sorry you are dealing with all of this!

  • Okay... went to Michaels, Aaron Brothers, Target and finally have a plan. while I could ask them it's not a hotel (it's a catering group through a base) and they are pretty structured.

I went there today and figured out where things inside will go... now just to figure out where the seats are going to go since the drawing which is not to scale is also not to reality and some tables will have to move.

Just a few too many changes but finished favors tonight so a check finally!
