NWR: question for those who live in or around the Baltimore area

FI has a job offer in Towson, MD and his current job is working on a counter-offer for him. We are weighing our options too and are curious about a couple of things.

When he went for his interviews he said that the area looks nice. We currenly live in Florida and spend a lot of time going to beach, going to local parks and doing other outdoor things. It seems like Baltimore/Towson is more "city living" which is okay but my question is what are the options for outdoor activites? It doesn't look too far from the coast, what is the beach scene up there (not the Jersey Shore, lol)?

Any other info would be great since I MIGHT be living there by next month (after the wedding!)...thanks!

I live in York, PA which is only about an hour north of Towson. There are so many things to do up here like the beach, the Chesapeake bay is right close, there are tons of riding trails and parks. The Baltimore Aquarium is amazing and the zoo is really nice too. I know it seems urban but there is lots of outdoor space...lots of farm land too. You can go to Ocean City, Maryland. Theres a boardwalk there with tons of stuff to do and all up and down the Delaware coast are nice beach towns. You should check out the wild horses on Assateague Island and Chincoteague. You'll be fine....don't worry!   :)

Thanks for the info....that's good to know! Sounds like lots of fun things to do and seeing the wild horses would be amazing! Maybe if we don't end up moving there we should still visit anyway.

  • I am Baltimore born and raised, but I currently live in Delaware. The eastern shore of MD is a great getaway... you can really make a day trip or a long weekend of it. Ocean City, MD is also on the Eastern Shore and you can also drive up the coast into DE and experience our coastal shores and parks. Annapolis, MD also is a great town with lots of attractions to do and see. Since I live dead smack in the middle of the state of DE, we are an easy 1hr and half drive from B-more, ( my dad lives there still) and we travel it quite frequently. I think that you will not have much to worry about as far as things to do and see. Also remember that Washington, DC is also a hop, skip, and jump away as well with lots of fun and FREE attractions.
