Just said "yes" to the dress!

I can't believe how quickly that happened - went to Kleinfeld in NYC on the weekend not intending to buy as it was my first gown hunting trip. Left with an Amsale dress that was a bit of a departure from what I had orginally thought I would get. Thought I wanted something sleeker like this:

But once I put on some dresses with a fuller skirt, I realized I felt more "bridal" in them and ended up with this:

I also got a crystal encrusted sash to bling it up which will be sewn in and will not interfere with the bow in the back. Got a veil as well - fingertip length with silk ribbon edging the tulle.

I am happy with my choice - I instantly felt like this dress was "me" - and I suppose I could have tried on more than 6 dresses in total, but I am kind of relieved to be done with it. Wouldn't have had time to look after July anyways since I'll be in med school. Do I think there might be a dress out there I liked even better? Possibly. Worth the hassle of continuing to look? Nah. ;-)

The more I look at it, the more love it. :-)

  • That dress is stunning!! I love dresses with pleated detailed like that.

And I agree with cnf, I'd love to go to Kleinfelds!! I'd be one of those girls they're always complaining about on Say Yes to the Dress, because I'd be trying on dresses just for funsies.
  • Ditto PPs. I love this dress, can't wait to see your pictures in it!

  • The dress is gorgeous! I'm jealous about the whole Klienfelds thing too. I thought about going but wasn't sure it would be worth the trip since I don't really have a budget of $5000 to spend on a dress. How was the experience of being a Klienfelds bride? :)

Thanks everyone for your replies - glad you like my dress! :-)

And for anyone who wants to go to Kleinfeld's, GO!!! You do not need to have 5000 to spend on a dress - they have dresses starting at 2000 and many in the 3000-3500 range. Alterations are a flat fee of 675. You can most likely get them to take something off the price of the dress and your veil and accessories would be discounted as well if you buy them there. They do try to save you some money as well - they suggested I have the dress shipped to me in MA and them send it back to them for alterations to avoid taxes. Nice!

Overall I had an awesome experience there. It is everything you think it will be, including having a big dressing room with you name above the door. My consultant was Renee - she was very matter of fact but excellent. Loved everyone there. Saw some of the consultants on the show as well - the one with the dark hair in the high ponytail with the lipstick drawn outside her mouth. No Randy, but there was basically a Randy-clone who came into the dressing room to introduce himself and give me his card. I have gotten several emails from Kleinfelds since then saying that I can call the owners (or whoever handles their calls/emails) at "home" after hours until midnight if I have any issues/questions/concerns.

And honestly even if you are just going for funsies (haha), so what? It is soo much fun! But you may go in for funsies (like me) and end up leaving with a dress for realsies (like me)...they are just that good! Not pushy at all though.
