Kids of your own - Involved in the ceremony?

Those of you who have kids, are you involving them in the ceremony? DS will be 2 months shy of 3yo when we get married. The obvious choice would be to have him as our ring bearer. We've considered having a small part of our ceremony where he gets a ring too (probably on a necklace) as something we can hold onto for him, and explain in more detail when he's older - a symbol of us all being married as a family rather than just Mommy and Daddy.

I dont know if this is silly and we should just stick with him carrying the pillow down the aisle, or if it might be nice. I know our families would go ga ga over him standing up there in a little suit regardless, but I think it would be something very sweet to look back on. Thoughts?

I don't have kids but love the idea of a sand ceremony for families.  A sand ceremony is where you all would have a small vase filled with a colored sand and then pour them into another vase to symbolizing the creation of something that can never be separated.

My kids will be 19 and 12 when I get married (not to their father, fyi).  They are walking me down the aisle, and we are doing a group sand ceremony.  They've come up with titles for themselves "maid of awesomeness" and "best dude", they didn't think MOH or BM really fit.

I have 2 daughters ages 20 and 17 and they will be my maids of honor. MY FI also has 2 girls, he hasn't mentioned if he wants them to stand up on his side. they're both too old to be flower girls. But we are not traditional so anything can go. Haven't hashed out those details yet.

ktwed- is that a picture of you and FI in our siggy?   AND you have 2 daughters, one who is 20!!!  YOU LOOK AMAZING if that is the case, I thought you were like 25 in the pic.

Yes, FI is DS's dad. I think we've decided we're just going to have him be our ring bearer and that's it. He's still going to be too young to really understand what's happening anyway!

FI and I have a daughter who will be 4 at the time of our wedding and she will be our flower girl. But we are also thinking of someone else (FI has a 6 year old nice) going down the aisle with her so that she doesn't get too overwhelmed with all the attention.

I have 3 kids. My 2 girls will be flower girls and my son will be our ring bearer. I like the idea of the sand ceremony with all of us.
