Selecting a Theme

This is my second marriage.  When I got married the first time over 19 years ago we didn't choose any type of them.  Does anyone have any advice on where to start on choosing a theme?

Thanks Gals!

Re: Selecting a Theme

  • The only advice I have is to let your venue determine your theme. If you get married in a ballroom, you can't really have a rustic theme. Once you choose your location, look at the decor and the ambiance and go from there.

    Good luck!

  • I agree - my venue made my decision for me. We were going with a rustic theme at a local park, but I found a nice 1920's venue that was the same price, but closer to civilization and available on the date we really wanted. I had no interest in a vintage theme, but it looks so great with this new place, I'm really loving it now.

Also, if you search Google images and Pinterest for "wedding theme" and "wedding decor" you'll see what you like and what you don't.

  • klyn hit it on the head, don't get your heart set on a theme until you know your venue.  Ours is in a barn at a historic mill, soooo naturally we are going rustic/country.  Though, we knew this is what we wanted anyway, I grew up "in the sticks" and all of our hobbies are kind of redneck lol.
