June 2013 Weddings

Updates!

So excited to say that we will be booking the reception THIS month! We are going to our first bridal show next month and hopefully booking the photographer. So excited!!! I moved my dress alteration to the beginning of March since we are going to Florida next month.

When is a good time to start adding things to our registry?

Re: Updates!

  • I have heard to wait to and put together a registry till closer to the wedding date so I'm thinking we will start that when our date is 1 year or less away. Items in the stores can change and you may end up buying things between now and then.

  • Yay! How exciting! It's the best feeling ever signing that dotted line! As for the registry , as ktappa mentioned, they aren't usually created until about a year before the wedding date and are kept open until about a year after because guests technically have up to a year after the Wedding tobuy a gift!

  • I've read differently.  It might be a good idea if you start a registry if you're having an engagement party as people often bring gifts and can start there when wondering what to get you.

We're not having a party, but we've been receiving quite a few gifts from immediate family and it would sort of be nice to be able to make people aware of what we've already received.  For example, both my mother and FSIL gave us a pair of champagne flutes, one kitschy pair for engagement and one engraved pair from Tiffany.  We can use  both, but we don't really drink that much champagne...

    I digress. Foot in mouth

  • We had an engagement party in October, so we started our registry back in the fall. We received a number of gifts off of it, both for the party, and as Christmas gifts. It was fun registering, now we just have make sure to go through it every few months if items are discontinued.

  • From what I had been told on other boards when I had my engagement party last June, you don't need a registry for an engagement party because it means you're expecting gifts, and that's what a bridal shower is for. :o/

  • We just put our registry together over the holidays - timing wise it worked out best for us because we both had time off. From both sides we had been hearing rumblings through our parents that people were wanting to know where we were registered in order to get us an engagement gift. While that's not the main impetus for us to register, the timing has worked out nicely.
