Wedding Wednesday

It is Wednesday today, right? I'm all messed up on what day of the week it is.

I feel like I've done a lot, but I don't know. Rob and I settled on flower girls. We've discussed ordering our wedding rings (we both picked them out a while ago). I'm gathering my bridesmaids for a second round of BM dress shopping and have a time and date decided on, I just have to call and make the appointment. My mom and I started discussing flowers. She has a close friend who is a florist and we're debating doing silk arrangements and real bouquets/boutonnieres. I think that's it. Nothing concrete. Just a lot of planning talk and ideas.

I'm with you in that everything has been talking this week. My mom asked me the other day if FI and I were for sure on our venue. I have to e-mail them to ask a few questions, but I think we might be able to book soon.

The only thing I have done is start our wedding website. (I updated the info in my Role Call if anyone is interested.) It's taking a heck of a lot more time than I anticipated. I'm still working on it, but at least it's started!

As you all now know, I have changed my colors. We decided on a blush, foresty green, and ivory. I jokeingly told my family to not allow me to change colors anymore. I need to be able to have time to work with these and get a plan...which I think I have half developed. More rustic than country. Maybe even partially rustic/vintage, as the dresses I looked at online last night looked pretty vintage. I guess you could say I'm wanting an "old feel". I love old timey things.

I am reconsidering getting married on my parents "farm". It's just not as wooded as I want. I want more of a forest lol. Cue the trees! We have several other family members who own land with "mini forests" on it who would allow us to have the ceremony & location there. I think we are possibly going to go look after vacation.

And then their is the Nance House & Gardens. A super old historic building (complete with a rustic feel) and fenced in "yard", which is complete with stone paved walk areas, oodles of trees, and just a general shaded outdoorsy feel.

We got some wedding stuff acommplished over the past few days. We met with a DJ on Monday night. I'm on the fence about him (I kind of got the vibe that he's been doing this for so long that he just automatically assumes that we'll be doing things the same way a lot of other couples do them), but my fiance thought he was great.

I also got the stuff I need to do a mock up of our invitations, so that I can see if I can make 100-ish of them. I'll post pics later this week if they turn out okay.

And....we picked out our wedding bands this weekend!! The jeweler we've been using had a big bridal trunk show this weekend, so they had a bunch of designers there with their new stuff. We both found rings that we liked, and with the trunk show pricing, we ended up saving a good bit of cash. The designer who makes the band my fiance picked was offering free engraving as a part of his specials, and (I thought this was really cool), I was able to write what I wanted engraved on his ring in my handwriting, and then they'll use a scanned copy of my writing to do the engraving. I can't wait to see how it turns out!!

So I called about the Nance House. $75 bucks for the whole day! I'm normally the type of person that screams, "You get what you pay for", but in this case, that is not so. You would just have to know the county I live in to understand this. Its an extremely small town so this price suits it lol. Taking a tour next Thursday Can't wait to show you ladies

Booked my first appointment to shop for wedding dresses!!!!

Decided I'd go alone once in Munich before I head to the US to shop with my mother and FMIL, just to take the pressure off.

Going next Friday afternoon.  Super excited!

We haven't done a ton of wedding stuff this week since FI and I are both bogged down with school stuff. But we got our initial proposal from the caterer we'd like to use. Holy cow! I knew it would be a lot but I was thinking less than that so we might need to make some changes lol. Tonight we're taking my parents to tour our venue so they can see it and get a feel for it. Tomorrow I'm going for my first dress appointment! I'm super excited but this place just recently got some bad reviews online so I'm hoping for a good appointment. Ok so I got more done than I thought I did this week

Wow, you girls have been productive!  I have been so so busy with NWR stuff.  The only thing I've gotten done recently was talk to my best friend, who is also my MOH, who also introduced me to FI, about having her two adorable daughters be flower girls.  We're not saying anything to them yet though, otherwise we will have 14 months of "is the wedding tomorrow?"

I haven't done anything wedding related this week   I have strep throat, so I've mostly just been sleeping and whining.

I'm back at work and my Mom called to say that FI's wedding band arrived today though!  I can't wait to get home and see him try it on    The best part is that I excitedly called FI to tell him it arrived (partly expected him to give me a nonchalant "okay.. and?") and he was equally as excited.

We are the same! I don't even think our FG's parents are going to tell her until the week of the wedding.

Alright, well today ended up being quite productive! Set up appointments for the 28th(next Saturday) with the cake designer to talk about our centerpiece idea and our bridal party cake. Also an appointment with our venue so my grandma and my aunt can see what we are working with. I have a dress appointment set up purely because I miss it. We are also going to start looking for shoes and my veil! 

The 28th is going to be AMAZING.

I had been looking for some type of jacket to wear with my dress since my arms are not great. (I've lost a lot of weight, and still have a lot to go.) I found the perfect one for me!

I ordered it in white so I can take it dress shopping, but it won't be ready until July. She said it can be dyed to match my dress if I find an ivory gown. I'm also considering getting a much simpler (and cheaper) dress now.

We also had a snafu with our videographer. He has a deal to get $200 off a photobooth if you book 2 other services with them (DJ and video). So I asked him what the condtiions were, and he said there were none. This would make the photobooth $130 for 3 hours.

I told him we would go with him and asked him to send us a contract for DJ, Video, and 3 hour photobooth that he had on his website. He sends the contract back and says we have to have at least 5 hours, so the photobooth would be $350. I know that's a good price, but we didn't even want the photobooth in the first place. Now I kind of feel tricked. His prices for video are excellent, but is he going to trick me on that too? I told FI that it was up to him if he still wanted it. I really want it now, but I hate to reward the guy for doing business this way.

Call him out on it! If he quoted you at one price he should honor it. Did he say this via email? Because if so, you can print it out and show him exactly what he said.

I've really gotten nothing done this week. I've been trying to decide what to tackle next. We have the venue booked which includes catering, photographer is booked. I got the DJ booked this past Saturday. I'm waiting back on some information from a videographer before I decide on what to do there if anything. It's not really in the budget, but I fouund a good price. Just waiting for him to send me samples of his work. If he's good we'll work it in.
I'm thinking I will move to a florist and research and narrow  down to around 3 places and see what works.

Unfortunately, he didn't quote the price. He just said $200 off. Normally I would make a scene, but I really don't want him to screw up our wedding video or something.

FI and I havent done really anything productive lately. We are playing email tag with our photographer and trying to get a date set up for our e pics sometime in september. Next we are going to start setting up meetings with DJs.
