So we finally went to the winery yesterday. We were a little disappointed. The grass was freshly cut, but it was long overdue before that so there was cut grass everywhere. There's a little bridge over the pond that goes out to a little island, and it really needed some love. Paint chipped off everywhere, it wasn't even, and it started rocking so we felt like we were going to fall in! The floor in the tent was straight up concrete, and there were big cracks all over it. And get this... there was furniture in the pond! The wicker chairs that they change $3 a piece to use for the ceremony... there was one in the pond that looked like it had been there a while.
The option there that we really liked was the most expensive (naturally), but a lot of it was still open to the public. We walked around in the middle of someone's reception and watched another ceremony from the car on our way out.
The pictures are gorgeous, but they've really been slacking on the maintenance of the place lately. My mom is planning on asking about it since she's more ok with that kind of thing. On the bright side, we got to look at several other venues, and I put in four inquiries this morning for them. The goal is to have something booked by the one year mark, which is this Friday! I'm in for a very busy week!
