FI's parents have a small house right next to theirs, that over the weekend they told us we could live in RENT FREE! We would pay our own utilities and such. The only issue with this house, is that it is a cracker shack lol. Super tiny and it doesn't have a washer/dryer hook-up...but we could always put one in. And I mean, this house is just until we can afford to buy a new one. Its not permanent.
FI and I both could use new vehicles. FI's is about dead. He has so much trouble with it. And my car is not a family orientated car (I just paid off the loan from where I wrecked the stupid thing). It's two doors and its not very reliable either. We had both put off new vehicles because we didn't want two car payments and a house payment. But now, we can afford the car payments!
The reasons for us waiting until 2013, was so I would be out of school and so we would have time to save for a house...I will be out of school this August and we now have a house. So we may be bumping our date up. Don't know for sure yet, but it's a real possibility.
