Proposal story: LOL when he first perposed we were like 20 and we were at the jewelry store in the mall. He had gotten down on one knee to do it, my mom was there and a small crowd had gathered. Some teenage boy says loudly to another "oh S$%^ that guy is going to propose to that chick!" Nelson turned beet red, got nervous and just chocked out "will you marry me?" I laughed and said yes and that was it lol.

Proposal story We don't really have one of these either. We had been talking about it for a while. One Sunday morning he came up with the bright idea of going ring shopping, which we did. We shopped for about 4 months before deciding to go with the first one we saw. We went together to get it had it sized and because I was so excited he let me go pick it up the next week on my way to a bridal show. Not really romantic but typical for us since we're both very intense, impatient and impulsive. He bought his wedding band the same day on an impulse buy!

Wedding Venue/Location: Not yet decided (boy is it tough!) but it will be somewhere around WV's eastern panhandle, and Hampstead MD area.

How are you personalizing your wedding? He's jewish and I'm Christian, so we'll combine the two in our ceremony to a degree. Neither of us are very religious though, so we're doing our own vows and some nonreligious readings. For our reception we'll both probably change in to Jordans that go with our colors.

Interesting fact: We actually met in a bar in Vegas! I was there for spring break and he was living there and his family was visiting.  We ended up at the same bar (long story and long night) and we kept talking after I left to go home.  We made trips to see each other couple times but he was moving back to his home city in Texas and quitting his job in Vegas, however his job heard he was in Colorado (with me) and offered him a position at their Denver location, which is near me! How are you personalizing your wedding? Well I'm having it in a venue that is around mountains (colorado) at a working ranch in a barn with BBQ (Texas ) and some cards at the table (somewhat vegas) bringing all "our" states together with a laidback atmosphere and rustic touch just like us:)

Proposal story: We went ring shopping for my birthday in November and I picked one out but he gave me the ring on christmas which he tricked me into thinking it was some boots I've been wanting.  He put shirts and belts in a boot box with the ring on top.  So it was bit of a surprise, which is a lot coming from a laid back small town country boy.

What do you and FI do for a living (optional): I am a molecular tech in a pathology lab and Chad is a manager of a distribution office of a tile and granite company.

Proposal story: I told him one day, we never have to get married babe, we can just stay dating, maybe have a few kids. The next few days he had been getting super distant, and not talking to me at times. I thought I had really pissed him off by saying that, but the week after that, he took me out to dinner, and when we were walking home, got down on one knee, and said, baby, I want to make you mine forever. It wouldn't be right to just stay dating. Be my wife. I said yes!!

Interesting fact: We went to high school together, but never met and I graduated with his younger sister. Our families also live only 2 min away from each other. We met through a mutual friend at a party my freshman year of college.

How are you personalizing your wedding?: Instead of doing a traditional guest book I am having my "guest book attendent" take polaroids of each guest and that will replace their seating card. They will be hanging from twine with clothes pins. I am also making my favors, we are making buckeyes (since we are both OSU grads) one dipped in dark chocolate and one in white for the bride and groom. Our first dance will be to a song by a local band that we follow. I wish I could have hired them to play at the wedding!

Proposal story: So we have been together for quite a long time, I transfered schools for him and everything But, he is still in school, but will be done December. He had been telling me that we wouldn't get engaged until he graduated and had a job to make sure that everything was stable, my argument was I still love you even when you are poor so why does it matter and we live together anyway. So on Christmas one of my best friends got engaged and I was so happy for her, but I had a mental breakdown basically I felt that Marcus and I weren't moving forward. He told me that I would feel silly soon that I was having this cry fest. That was my first clue! He had bought me tickets to a show as my gift and it was a few weeks later. I acutally found the ring box by accident on New Year's Eve while I was looking for his tie, but I DIDN'T LOOK!  I wanted it to be a suprise since I had already ruined the engagement suprise. So I assumed it would be the night of the show at dinner or something. Well it was the day of the show and he came home from playing basketball saying he had sprained his ankle so he was hobbling around for the rest of the night. We went to a fantastic dinner, but NO ring, we went to the show but NO RING, so we were on our way home and he asked his I would drop him off and then go to the store to get athletic tape to wrap his foot up and I was so mad!! So I went and I had a breakdown (see a theme??) When I got back the lights were off and I opened the door and he had lit little candles and he was standing waiting for me in the living room, he got down on one knee and popped the question. He also had flowers and a nice bottle of champagne. Also my ring is gorgous! I love it. 

What do you and FI do for a living (optional): I am the Community Affairs Coordinator for a city right outside of Columbus, OH and he is in school and will graduate with a degree in food engineering in December.

Proposal story: It was Leap Day, and I was sick and on the sofa watching Scrubs, complaining and coughing. Dan was making me tea for my sore throat. When he came to sit down next to me I said something along the lines of "I love you, will you marry me?"
I think I fell asleep not to long after that, and almost forgot about the entire thing. We had already been talking about marriage before this, so it wasn’t a huge surprise to either of us. (He was hoping to find the ‘perfect’ moment to propose, but was glad that I did.)

How are you personalizing your wedding?

My FI and I are trying to add personal touched throughout our wedding.  For example, we want to make a video to play before the ceremony that welcomes our guests and thanks them for coming.  My FI has a lot of family that I might not know yet and so we think this would be a good way to make them feel more welcome.  We are still trying to add other personal touches throughout the day!

Proposal story

Well this is kind of a long (but amazing) story.  I will try to give the shortened version.  My FI completely surprised me (picked out the ring all by himself---well with the help of 3 good girlfriends).  A few weeks prior to our engagement, one of my best friends asked me to hang out on January 28th.  She was leaving for a cruise that following week and wanted to hang out with me before she left.  She told me she was going to plan the day since I had been extremely busy with school and things of that sort.  So I let her plan it and didnt inquire very much.  

Then on January 28th she picked me up for our "surprise hang out".  Strangely enough, I had ZERO suspicions about this.  I am usually so inquisitive and I just totally went with the flow that day!  She ended up taking me to a spa and we got shalack manicures.  We enjoyed ourselves, sipping on mimosas and talking  Then two of my other best friends showed up at the spa!  They told me that they wanted to join in on our girls day.  We all hung out at the spa for awhile.  We were at a resort and started to get really hungry so we wanted to go across the street to one of the restaurants to get some food.

We drove across the street to go into the building and my friends wanted to check out the new additions that the resort had made on a section of the building.  I happily agreed to go with.  When we walked in they decided to go into one of the conference rooms.  I was all concerned that we wer going to get yelled at for being there.  As I started to express my concern my friends opened the conference room door and my FI was standing there in a suit waiting for me.  The girls pushed me in the room and shut the door behind me.  There was music playing (The Book of Love) and there were rose petals in the shape of a heart on the table.  Inside the heart was a book on a stand.  My FI asked me to sit down and he picked up the book.  

He began to read me a poem that he had wrote me (he picked up a thick book from good will and printed out the poem he wrote and glued it on the pages of the book he bought).  When he turned the 6th page there was a ring box in a hole he had cut in the pages on the right side.  (He had glued about 500 of the pages together and then cut a square hole in the middle for the ring box to fit into).  Then he pulled out the ring and got on one knee and asked me to marry him.  All my friends and their husbands were waiting outside.  We proceeded to go to dinner and call our friends and family.  It was the PERFECT proposal for me.

I am just finishing up grad school ( I graduate in August) for speech therapy.  I hope to work in the school system starting in September.  My FI is a financial advisor.

I was so upset at him for waking me up because I am a school principal and have to get up at 5am... so needless to say I took a walk with him, he was talking I was walking still half way asleep. Next thing I know he takes me to the back porch, where there are twinkle lights, roses petals and pictures of us during our relationship posted everywhere. He said he couldn't wait any longer to ask me that it had to be right then and there... Of course, I said yes.... then obviously I couldn't sleep because I was so excited. I think my teachers love me now, because I let them go home early

How are you personalizing your wedding? I haven't really done a whole lot of planning yet but we have a son who will be 2 this July and want him to be a big part of our wedding.
Proposal story We went on a date to go see Avengers and ate at Olive Garden afterwards. On the way home he decided to go down to the local beach to walk on the boardwalk. It was the first place outside of work that we had ever hung out together so the place has a lot of meaning. We were acting silly and he was carrying me on his back just like old times. When we got to one part we just stopped and started talking about random things. Then he asked if I was ready to head back and so I turned around ready to walk off and when I looked back he was on one knee. It was perfect. I couldn't imagine anything better

Proposal story:  I decided to get Aaron tickets to a Dropkick Murphy's concert in Lowell, MA on St. Patrick's Day for Christmas. Aaron constantly talked about going to Boston on St. Paddy's so it seemed like a great gift. Once March rolled around, We started to plan our trip to Lowell and Boston, meanwhile, Aaron was being sneaky with his mom and sister, Stephanie, to get my ring size (well, I started to get suspicious). We left for Boston Friday night after I was sick all day with the stomach bug. After getting in late Friday night, we woke up early Saturday morning to get to the Sam Adam's Brewery in Boston at 9:30am. That was exciting! Anyway, we spent the whole day roaming around Boston, trying to get into a bar for a drink, needless to say that didn't work out very well on St. Paddy's... In Boston...Later that night we got to the concert at the Tsongas Center at the University of Mass, Lowell. The concert was fantastic. But the very last song, made it amazing. Just one minute left in the last song, Aaron got down on one knee and proposed. Although we couldn't hear one thing coming out of each other's mouths, I think it was obvious I said "Yes!" -Erin

Proposal story 

We had discussed marriage and all that fun stuff months ago and he went so far as to have me pick out a ring. After he graduated grad school, he moved in with me.. On the day he moved in, we were standing in my apartment about to go out and start bringing his things in, when he said he couldn't wait any longer, he had a big thing planned the next day, but it was too long to wait and he asked me to marry him!

Proposal story: It was our two year anniversary so I sort of expected a proposal.  I bugged him about it all through dinner!  He said he had my present mailed to my parents house because he knows how nosy I am and that we had to pick it up from them after dinner.  After assuring me multiple times that he would never propose on a special occasion (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Anniversary, etc...), I dropped the proposal topic.  After dinner he pretended to get a phone call from a friend saying there was a huge crowd outside of our town's college football stadium.  He pulled into the parking lot where we first met (at a tailgate!) and asked me to walk up to the stadium with him.  He then dropped to a knee and popped the question.  We did end up meeting with my parents, and they were in on the whole thing!  It was awesome to celebrate with them.  My extended family happened to be in town for a family event so we were able to tell all of them the next day in person!  It was great!

How are you personalizing your wedding? Since we're on a budget I'm hoping to DIY for a lot of things. Plus, our music selection is going to have a lot of things that we like (which other people would probably find silly).

Proposal story Well, he was visiting me for the summer (since we had a LDR) and it was the morning of our anniversary. I think he woke up before me, which was very surprising since he's a late sleeper. He told me he had something special for me and asked me to close my eyes. I did and when I opened them I saw the cutest little white plush teddy bear holding a red gift bag. When I looked inside the bag, I saw it had a jewelry box in it. Now, I was getting excited/nervous, but didn't really want to say anything in case I was misreading the signals. But, when he got down on one knee and gave me the most romantic declaration I had ever heard, I knew what he was doing and immediately started crying. Somehow he managed to hear my "Yes" through my tears and blubbering. We spent the rest of the day relaxing together and went to a very nice restaurant that evening to celebrate. 

What do you and FI do for a living I am a student graduating after the end of the Fall semester. I also work at a clothing store down here. He just graduated and works at a local grocery store. He's also hoping to get into the Air Force!

Proposal story: 

It was Chase's birthday (Decemeber 22) and we decided to spend the day together to finish some christmas shopping.  I took him out to a German restaurant to eat for dinner and he could hardly eat anything.  Afterwards Chase wanted to go to the incline and check out the view of the city.  I agreed and of course the place only takes exact change so I'm digging around in my bag for like $1.35 and finally come up with exact change.    Once we get to the top we head to the over hang and Chase says "You know how I said that I didn't know what I wanted for my birthday?"    Me:  "Yea..."    Chase: "I've decided it's to spend the rest of my life with you...Will you marry me?"   Me:  "are you kidding me?  (lightly smacks FI in arm) "Of course I will".  I think his favorite part was that I smacked him and since we were right next to a restaurant there were all these people who probably saw that.

Proposal: My grandmother raised me and is not doing well.  I had been away for a week on vacation with my friend.  When I got home my brother was here and he and my FI insisted I go to GSO to take my brother home.  I protested but decided to go.  When I got there everything was like normal.  I was in my old room and he called me to the living room.  He was on one knee and proposed.  He said he wanted to do it so my grandma would at least get to see that incase she isnt here for the wedding.

When did you get engaged: Feb. 14, 2012--I was 8 months pregnant and going through a terrible time with the recent death of my 4 year old daughter and had been talking about it for months so one night he came into our bedroom and handed me the ring and said is this promise enough.

Interesting fact: We picked out my ring set together and I'm waiting for it from Zales right now. When it gets in it has to go right back out to be sized. I can't wait to have it on my finger!
Wedding Venue/Location: We are getting married looking out at Lake Ontario. Behind us is our town's lighthouse. (I hope it will make for great pictures.) Our reception is at The American Foundry (it's like 3 to 4 minutes away.)
Colour(s): We don't have colors yet. I had told the photographer purple, but I've had trouble with matching the dress colors with vest and tie colors. Usually this wouldn't be a huge deal, but He has girls on his side and I have a guy on my side. So the colors are kind of annoying me right now. 

How are you personalizing your wedding?: I'm not really sure how we're personalizing our wedding. We'll have a photobooth at the reception for guest to take home a strip and make a scraptbook for us. So I hope they really enjoy that, but I don't know what we're doing to personalize our wedding. We have four ferrets and we've been debating whether we want them in the wedding.

Proposal story: Our proposal story is kind of funny. Okay so he knew I didn't want a big huge proposal out in public so he attempted to ask me at home during one of my favorite childhood movies. He kept trying to get my attention, but I was paying more attention to the movie. We had been at the mall earlier picking out my promise ring until we could find my wedding set, because we wanted to pick that out together. I had no idea he would actually be asking me that night, but he couldn't wait to ask me. So he got in my way of the t.v. with the ring box open in his hand and he said a bunch of sweet things that I can't recall from memory, and I felt so bad for ignoring him while he was trying to get my attention. It was so sweet.

Proposal story
It was Saturday June 2, 2012, our 5 year anniversary of dating. We went on a weekend trip to Las Vegas, I had a feeling something was up as we were staying at the Venetian and he had dinner plans for Saturday at Picasso in Bellagio (look it up!). On Saturday morning, we went down to purchase our tickets for the Gondola ride in the Venetian for later that evening, he purchased the private Gondola tickets, that was another clue to me, even though he says he didn't know if he was going to propose on there or not. That evening, before dinner, we went on the Gondola ride. It was the cheesiest, mushiest time and while we were on the Gondola coming back, he asked me, "Would you kill me if I did something crazy right now?" I asked "Like what?!", he asked the same question again, I gave the same response two more times until he pulled the ring out of his pocket, held it there for a moment and asked "Will you marry me?" I said, "Of course I will!" and he slid the ring on my finger. Our Gondolier bent down and said quietly (as we were being very private about our moment), "Cento anni di fortuna, that means 100 years of good luck. Congratulations you two!" and I looked back at him and let him know it was our 5 year anniversary too, he said, "oh well, then Cento e uno anni di fortuna!"

Proposal story We had taken a trip to Cadiz Kentucky one weekend, friend of mine from College was getting married. As we were sitting in the church before the ceremony began I didn't know what exactly what was up but he was acting nervous and excited at the same time, hard to describe exactly how he was but you could tell that he was a bit unsettled. I didn't think much of it at the time. After the wedding we hung around the reception for a bit before heading out and down to Nashville. Once we arrived at our hotel we immediately got ready for a night out on the town. For dinner we happened to decide on a place called Pearl. I love sushi, FI not so much but they served it so we went. After we finished dinner we noticed several women walking to the back of the restaurant, I made a joke about the place being a strip joint but FI wasn't interested. He grabbed my hands from across the table and looked into my eyes. "Liss, I can't imagine spending the rest of my life with anyone but you. I know I'm just an old guy but you are all I want. Will you Marry Me?" At first I thought he was joking and then I started seeing half naked girls emerging from the back. He then pulled out the ring and asked again, "Marry Me". Now I was in shock. As he put the ring on my finger I blurted out "OMG you just proposed in a Strip Club. He was totally oblivous to the strippers climbing up on the bar & tables. I will so never forgot that. LOL

Proposal story We were going out to dinner the night of his graduation, just Buddy, myself and a good friend. He told me we had to stop somewhere on the way to dinner and i didnt think anything of it. he too me to this park in Austin that overlooks practically the entire city, including UT where he had just graduated from. I was looking around and turned back to say something about it being really pretty but i was starving and asked if we could go to dinner yet. Then i looked down and he was on one knee with my grandmothers ring and said "today i closed a major chapter of my life and i am ready to start the next one. Interesting fact FI and I met online and when we first started messaging, I was 24 and he was only 21.  I thought maybe he was too young but continued to talk to him.  I went on vacation for a week with my friends and when I got back he had turned 22 and I decided "oh, 22 isn't THAT much younger" and decided to go on a date with him.  I am thankful everyday that he had a birthday during that week and that I kept talking to him!

How are you personalizing your wedding? Basically, just trying to stay away from the typical over the top NJ wedding by creating a more laid back atmosphere since we aren't super fancy people!  We hope to have a very personal ceremony and then for the reception to be intimate and fun!

Proposal story I love how FI proposed... we were celebrating Valentine's day a couple days early and he told me he wanted to go to Houlihan's because he had a coupon lol.  It's where we had our first date but he wanted to throw me off by adding in the coupon part and it worked.  However, leading up to the day he decided he'd rather propose before the restaurant so during the day we had brunch near the beach where he asked me to officially be his girlfriend.  After brunch he gave me a valentines day present to open.  The box was much bigger than a ring box and heavy!  We walked by the beach and I open it to find a glass jar full of m&m's - some said A&K Forever, some had <3s and some said "MARRY ME" - of course I noticed the marry me ones last!  I started freaking out, saying "what? what?" and finally I looked up to see FI on one knee and he asked me "will you marry me?"  Apparently I said yes, although I was too in shock to remember!

What do you and FI do for a living FI works in manufacturing and shipping and I just graduated with my masters degree in College Student Affairs.  I'm hoping to get a job at a nearby college or university as an academic advisor or career counselor!
