I feel stupid posting about dresses since I've "said yes to the dress" a few times before, but I've seriously made a decision. It's a dress that I love and my family loves (important because they talked me out of the one I put a deposit on.)

My dream dress was David's Bridal CWG365, but it was discontinued. I contacted many DB stores and even contacted HQ to see if they would sell me one at full price. They wouldn't. Then I stumbled on Allure 8850, which has an identical skirt and waist but with a bodice that I love even more.

I'm getting it in this "light gold" color, kind of a champagne. There are no picture of me in the dress because I haven't actually seen it in person. I tried on other Allures in the same silhouette, so I'm confident in ordering this one.

I also got my shoes from Zappos. I was going to return them because they were too gold instead of the pearl I was looking for, but then I found the light gold dress. They look like they were made for it.

Also picked out BM dresses, Allure 1273/1274 in "stone"

I've also started a DIY project. I learned how to make circular ruffles, so I'm going to try to make really long ones for our chuppah, to hide the poles. I'll probably make them for the bride and groom chairs too, but I doubt I'll be ambitious enough to do it for all the chairs.

I am getting so annoyed with shopping for invitations. I haven't found the invitations that I want, and it's getting really frustrating. I have some inspiration put up, but it's the wrong color, because our girls are going to be dressed in royal blue... Those invites are a really light blue so they won't work. We're looking at red rose invitations now... Ugh this harder than finding my dress lol.

Soprafinna - I am in love with your dress! I bet you are glad to finally have 'the one' and it is gorgeous! Congrats!

Beth - I completely agree with you on the invitations; it is frustrating and so hard to narrow it down to one. I found some yesterday that I like, but they are really formal whereas our wedding is quite casual and laid back. I really don't need inner and outer envelopes with this beautiful inner lining along with a gorgeous invite that will probably make our guests think to come in black tie, but they are so, so, so pretty! (I'm being sarcastic on the black tie, but I would feel odd sending out very formal invites for a very casual wedding)

I feel like I've gotten a lot done, but still when I look at the bigger pictures, it feels like not much is done. I went with my FMIL to book all of our rental stuff on Saturday (tables, chairs, linens, etc). We also went by Hobby Lobby and they were having their 50% off sale on all flowers, so we picked out the flowers that we'll use in our centerpieces. FMIL use to work as a florist, so thankfully she is helping out with that! And I am hoping to have our invitiations narrowed down in the next few weeks. Invitations are killing me!

FI has been working on staining my bridal party hangers, he also finally picked out his reading YAY! which was a major accomplishment in my eyes since getting stuff out of him is like pulling teeth. I went shopping with my MOH Saturday because she wants to make a bag for me to wear with my dress so she bought materials for that. I'm curious to see how it comes out. The chair sashes I bought finally came on Monday. They're not exactly the shade of purple I chose for wedding colors but they're so close in the dark no one will notice : The wedding day script is almost complete and last but not least I finally got my STDs printed from a new printer. It took them all of a few hours to complete and they look really good. I got to start addressing them over the weekend. I'm not done with that yet but I've been able to start hand delivering those we're not mailing :

I already shared this on FB, but I'm really excited because it was a big check: I found bridesmaid dresses!! All but one of my girls (who wasn't there) went ahead and ordered them on the spot this past weekend. They're an Alfred Sung dress in Mosaic:

That is literally the only wedding thing I accomplished this week. Hopefully this weekend will be more productive since I'm off Monday (yay for bank holidays!!).

Sopra, that dress is gorgeous!! I can't wait to see you in it!

I didn't do anything wedding related this week. I bought shoes the week prior I forgot to mention. I found a pair at DSW about a month or so back and didn't want to commit just then. I waited a few weeks and it paid off, because when I went back to buy them they were marked down 30%.

Fi has been looking at suits a lot lately. He was going to go look this weekend, but only one of his three local guys can go, so he decided not to go afterall. Which is just as well since he doesn't plan on making his final decision or trying anything on until late winter/early spring.

Oh, we got a letter from our venue about a "change in contact person" and letting us know they'd "be in touch soon". Very nondescript, but thanks to my work, I know it means our coordinator is leaving and they haven't hired a new one yet. That makes me nervous.

OH, and one of my BM's texted me yesterday that she ordered her BM dress! She's the first one and I'm so pumped about it.

    Sopra, love the dres!!!

We got quite a few things accomplished, we booked our honeymoon yesterday, so super excited for that! I know I've already AWed about it on fb, but it makes it even more exciting that it will be the first long vacation FI and I are taking by ourselves. We are going to Maui for 7 nights.

FI ordered his wedding band, it arrived last night but he was working super late so I had to fight my urge to open the box and look at it. I told him to wake me up when he gets home, but he either forgot or he did but I was too tired to remember. lol So I'll get to look at it when I get home from work today.

Sopra - Love your dress!! Can't wait to see pics of you in it!!

Hmmm, I've been on a roll lately haha.

Monday we went out of town to look and book our coach limo so that was fun and another big check! (And I must say, I'm super happy to get what I wanted heehee FI wanted a stretch hummer or something fun like that but with our size wedding party and my big poufy dress I told him I'd prefer a coach limo bus because then we can stand upright instead of jumping over each other to move around and/or get out. I'm happy with being comfortable on our big day vs trying to squeeze in 18 of us into an 18 person stretch SUV lol Now we have a fully decked out coach limo bus that holds 30 comfortably :)  )

Yesterday/today/this week - Invitations & Money box (as per my box post on FB lol)

I'm heading across the border on Sat so I am hoping to stop into Hobby Lobby & Joanns since we don't have them here. I will be looking for those paper mache boxes and fabric and fabric adhesive etc. If anyone has any coupons or can point me in the direction on where to get them for those stores (I'll happily take a Michaels coupy as well) I'd greatly appreciate it :)

Dee, if you go to Michael's, Joann's, and Hobby Lobby's websites, you can download the coupons right from there. All three places usually have a 40% off one item coupon every week.

    Beautiful dress!

I am happy to report we found a venue and have a date! June 2nd. I'm so excited. My parents and I went to look at it on Saturday and FI and his dad went yesterday and they liked it too. They provide the food too and we are also having the ceremony there so some bigs checks off my list!

I also went dress shopping on Saturday with M&D. I found two dresses I sorta liked. Everyone else likes the one dress better and I like the other one so it was a no go. We are going again on Friday, this time with the FMIL as well.

I finally feel like we are making some progress!

Kind of stressing this week, I can't find a florist who does weddings and has pictures of boquets that aren't roses(wierd right?) We've called 2 photographers and 2 DJ's last wednesday and no one has called us back...  FI keeps telling me that we have plenty of time but the wedding business is not big in our area of Ohio so there are not that many vendors to choose from in the first place. On top of that I want all the vendors picked by January, I'm going to be working 55+ hours a week including saturdays and I just don't want the wedding on my plate at that time. Thats 7 weeks including two major holiday weekends. I keep telling myself it's not a big deal- but my brain is not having it.

I'm uber confused about DJs. I honestly don't care that much. I want someone who will play great music and can mic the ceremony...and possibly provide equipment for a slideshow.

I've gotten 2 quotes so far. One is roughly $900 for everything I think we'll need. The other is $600. What additional is my $300 getting me? Is there really a big difference if they're covering the same amount of time, providing the same equipment and able to play requests? I feel like I should be spending more for some reason...but I don't want to.

I'm also having trouble with the BM dresses. My gals both say they don't care about price, but I want to keep it less spendy since they're traveling and staying 2 nights at the B&B which is not cheap. These are the 2 dresses i'm considering right now. One is pricy, one is not. Help me pick? I need to know if the cheap one looks cheap...so i'm not going to tell you prices...

the 2 panels in the front and back can be tied differently so the dress can have multiple looks:

I would probably call the DJ's that you got a price quote from and get a feel for them over the phone. I think a simple phone conversation will tell you a lot about their personality and what to expect out of them. A DJ is one thing that I was kind of picky on since we went to a wedding this fall and the DJ was terrible. We are having a casual and fun wedding, and it was important to me to get a DJ that has a good personality, knows what they are doing and how to gauge the audience. After talking to mine on the phone and meeting him in person, I am certain he'll do a great job.

I treated myself to a 1/2 day personal day last Friday to get some wedding stuff done with FI since we are on opposite schedules, so this week has been a busy one for us.

First, we chose a baker and put a deposit down on our cake. We LOVE their cakes (FI's family has been going there for birthdays and graduations for years and my college friends and I used to go in for samples all the time) and their prices are super reasonable, so we were very happy about that.

Then, FI's mom and I met with two florists this week. I'm pretty sure we are going to go with the first one we met (she came in super under budget so we might be able to have her do our centerpieces too), but I am waiting on a price quote from the second one we met with before we make our final decision. We should be able to sign our contract and put down that deposit sometime next week.

FI's family is graciously letting us use their timeshare club for our honeymoon, so we finalized dates with them. We will be leaving the Monday after the wedding, spending two days in Disney World (staying at Boardwalk Villas) and then driving to Vero Beach, Florida for five days on the beach. I can't wait!

I set-up a bridesmaid dress appointment with one of my sisters and my best friend for the day before Thanksgiving since we are all either teachers or students and will have the day off. FI's sister got her bm dress a few weeks ago so after Thanksgiving all that will be left is my other sister. We'll have to wait until she is on leave from the Navy to get hers, so who knows when that will be. Luckily we have time (and we're still hoping she can actually be at the wedding, so fingers crossed would be appreciated!).

Finally, we were able to get the link to our engagement pictures online. Our photographers did an amazing job and are mailing out our CD so we will be able to finish (or, ah-hem, start) our wedding website and get our save the dates figured out before the holiday craziness starts.

So much done but still so much to do!

I never can remember if I did something last week or this week so sorry if I repeat myself. My brides man and I went tux shopping and got a nice long lesson about tuxes on Saturday. My niece also finally decided to agree to wear the same bridesmaid dress as everyone else after she tried it on again and realized how good it looks on her. image I printed 98% of our envelopes for our stds hopefully I will get the out this weekend. I got my shoes which I already posted on fb. I also booked hair and mak up for everyone, hopefully I will like the trial in another 6 months. I'm so impatient it's gonna suck waiting. We're finally going to meet with the Frank Sinatra style singer FI has wanted for cocktail hour on Saturday so that will be something I can stop nagging about. I think we decided on a cake but we're getting cupcakes in the exact flavors this weekend to make sure. I think that's it this week. I'm trying to get pretty much everything done before the holidays so I'm working my butt off.

Since adding the chuppah to my floral contract and sending the deposit to the event lighting vendor for the reception up-lighting last week.... I have just been working my buns off all week (actually since the beginning of October) to make money for the next payment to the venue! Let me just say, G-d is good!!! I managed to book sevral jobs in the last few weeks and now I have exactly the amount (my share) of the payment that is due Nov 20th! FI has his and my Mom is also helping us, so I'm not stressed about it at all! I'm really really happy about that!

We still need to confirm one of our officiants, but FI schedule is crazy busy with both of the shows he's working on. Not sure when we'll have time to meet with the Rabbi, but I'm itching to do it soon! I want it locked down!!!!

I'm also struggling to get the ball rolling with finding and booking musicians and bands. I need help!! My MOH (best friend my whole life) has connections through her sister and brother in law, they are all musicians... but no one is returning my emails :( I know it's a busy time of year but they keep saying they want to help with this but I just feel the days and weeks slipping by... I've started looking on my own but really feel lost. I'm hoping to hear back from them soon.
