Boutineers and Corsages

Are you doing them?
Do you feel you HAVE to do them?

I don't think I want to.  I'm having a budget wedding and would rather spend that money elsewhere.

Is it considered rude not to do them?

Re: Boutineers and Corsages

  • was wondering the same thing myself!
  • If I had to pick, I would go with boutineers over corsages. I don't think it is something you have to do, but I do think it dresses up the guys a bit more. I don't think I'll do corsages for my girls. They will be holding bouquettes of flowers, I just feel like that's too much/too cluttery.

  • We would only be getting a couple coursages for our moms and readers.  I guess we'll see when it gets closer.
  • I think we will just go with boutineers for the guys, but I haven't given it too much thought though.

  • I know I want boutineers for the guys, but I'm not a big fan of corsages. Makes me think of prom.

THIS. Though I'm going to ask our moms and my Grandma what they would like, and if they want a corsage, I'll get them one. :

  • I definitely would get the boutineers for the guys if you are getting bouquets for the girls, I personally think it would be weird for the guys not to have them if the girls have bouquets. If you only want your BP to have flowers, I think that is perfectly ok. I personally dont think it is necessary to go giving bouts and corsages to everyone outside of the bridal party though, I am going to ask my mom and FMIL what they want.

  • I am not doing corsages. I am planning on making my own bouts the day before the wedding unless the floral lady that does it out of her house is much cheaper that the shop in town. I can get a dozen roses for $12.99, which is just a little over the cost of the floral shop for 1 bout. Then it's just the cost of pins, floral tape and the filler you're using. I may opt to buy the plastic containers if I go that route as well. I'm having moms, grandmas, readers, etc wear a bout too.
  • I think people notice boutonnieres a lot more than corsages. I think it would look a lot weirder not to have those for the guys

  • I'm not doing either.. I've never really been fussy on either of them.   We're having a really casual wedding though - I don't know if it's against etiquette to exclude them, but my group of friends wouldn't expect them from me LoL

  • Thanks for the feedback ladies.
FI doesn't like boutineers and doesn't want his men to have them...and I figure to save the money and headache of figuring them out- I probably just won't do them.

JennLax- our wedding will be pretty laid back as well so i don't see it being a problem
