Outdoor Beauty Wedding Venue = May 2013

My fiance and I currently live in Breckenridge, CO and we are getting married in Pittsburgh (where I'm from).  I'm looking for a venue with natural light, gardens, woods...anything that can remind us of where we live.  We really like nature.  I  don't want to get married at my parents country club in Fox Chapel, because that's just not our style, but based on pricing it might be our only hope.  I do like the FC area though.  Phipps is too expensive, Hartwood Acres closes at 7p, Beechwood Farms doesn't host weddings...Springwood has bad bride reviews.  Also looking at the Pittsburgh Golf Club.  I know that May is a rainy season.  Any venue suggestions welcomed!  Cheers.

  • Pittsburgh Golf Club is my venue... I love it!  It's less outdoorsy, but right on the golf course with a beautiful trees and a view in the area.  I'm happy to answer any questions about it.

Have you looked at Lingrow Farms and Armstrong Farms?  There's also the Barn at Fallingwater, Mayernik Center, and Betsy's Barn for a "rustic" feel.
  • Our venue is Stonebridge Farm and Nursery in Ambridge.  You can have the reception and everything there, although we are opting to have our reception at the Sheraton in Cranberry becuase the wedding will be in late August and we are afraid it might be too hot for some of our older guests.  The site is beautiful though! Very nice garden and a little bit of wooded area off to the side.  They also have indoor bathrooms which is nice for outdoor venues :)

I have also been to weddings at Betsy's Barn, which is gorgeous also. There is also the Atrium, the Mansion, or the Succop Conservancy. Good luck planning!!
  • Thanks everyone.  I can only hope for sunshine so we can have our ceremony outside.

  • We're doing ours at the Aviary. It's in the middle of the city so nothing like the vistas I'm Colorado but it gave us the outdoorsy/environmental twist without being crazy expensive like Lingrow Farms and Fallingwater and allowing us to use a less expensive caterer who's local to the "up and coming" neighborhood we live in.
    Married since May 12, 2012
  • We're doing ours at the Barn at Ligonier Valley.  There are some trees and a small pond on the property as well.  It isn't super woodsy, but it is rustic and affordable.  I love the Barn at Fallingwater, but it was too small for our guest list!   Best of luck!
  • We got married at Glades Pike Winery which is close to seven springs. Not sure if that is too far for you or not. But it was very ourdoorsy, in fact we had cows in some of our pictures(not sure if that is the look you are going for but that screams outdoorsy to me). There is also a park near by where we went to have pictures taken. Its a very nice venue if you are looking for a nice outdoor ceremony. They have a huge banquet hall inside as well. Hope this helps
