Not so pumped about my colors anymore

We are going with either a turquoise blue or more of a deeper shade of blue with white...My freshman year high school's colors were blue and white. The majority of my guests went to this very same high school and I don't want it to be like "Blue and white! Pioneers fight fight fight!" lol...So this is basically a "turn off" when it comes to colors.

We love the blue so we don't really want to change that. But I also like the white...maybe an ivory color? or gold? Gah...Idk. Any suggestions, ladies?

  • I'm also second guessing our color choices. But choosing them was overly tedious, as we couldn't seem to agree on anything! We finally settled on something we could both "live with" but the more I think about the more I don't like them. The only color scheme we both liked was orange and purple, but that's ironically enough, one of the colors for the colleges my FI works for, so we don't want everyone to think our wedding colors are that for some reason pertaining to the college. Same situation your in for the most part! I really want to talk to FI about it though and change our colors. I'm not terribly happy with them anymore. We're doing fuschia and like a turquoise color, and it feels too kid-ish to me.

I'd say add a third color. I think gold would look great against turquoise and white!

[QUOTE]My colors are actually really similar to my and FI's high school! Although they were green and gold, and I'm trying to go a bit lighter... they also happen to be the colors of his college, and the school where he got hired as AD..... (lol now I'm rethinking my colors!) I think if you go a bit creamier on the white, and not so stark, I doubt anyone would think anything of it, or compare or anything. A navy and ivory would look stunning together I think. Have you thought of adding a third color maybe, to kind of balance it out?

I've thought about it but can't decide on one lol. I had thought about navy and yellow but FI doesn't want to go that dark of a blue. He's being a Mr. Picky Pants about it right now lol.

I wanted a pink wedding but he's "too much of a man" to wear pink or whatever...pansy.... Do you think maybe a creamish soft pink would look ok with blue? I kinda stink when it comes to putting colors together...

I think I may just have to do gold because I can already see what I could do with it :)

  • I like kaiser's suggestion, with the pop of blush pink, but you could even do a coral, or a lavendar color with the blue and white. Just don't make the guys have to wear any "girly" color. I personally like silver or gray with blue, they are sort of in the same family (cool colors) while gold and blue are opposites.

Technically my colors basically are my high school colors (navy gold and white, woo yea alright! HA ok so maybe I was a cheerleader). Completely not intentional actually, except I am doing yellow rather than gold, and a bit more toned back with some grays in there rather than pure white. FI likes this shade of blue and it goes well with the venue, light blues don't look right in the tan barn, dark colored linens contrast very nicely.

  • I'm doing blue with pops of red. :)
  • pale pink or lavender would look good. My main color is purple and I'm having hints of blue and light green accents, which will mainly show up in the flowers.
An idea is go to the paint section of Home Depot and grab some swatch cards and experiment with different colors to see what will work with the blue and white.
