Pet Peeves

I know it's not vent day yet, but anyone have any pet peeves/annoying things that your FI does sometimes? Every now and then I'll get in a mood, like after a bad day or something particularly annoying happens, and FI will do some annoying little thing that makes me thing WTH???

For example, the other night he got home late from work. I heated up dinner from him, and when he finished he put it in the sink and proceeded to wash it. I told him to leave it, I'll do it since he worked all day, but he did it anyway. Nice right? Well, 10 min later I go to pour soda down the sink, and I see the sink drain filled with food from the dishes. He knows I HATE that and that it grosses me out beyond belief, I hate touching it. Yet he left it there. Why bother doing me a favor if it is going to be done half assed? I can think of some other things, but I'll leave it at that, lol.

Tonight, FI was home when I walked it (put a deposit down on limos today) and he was laying in bed. The blanket was all in a ball so I grabbed it to fix so I could lay down, and he jumped down my throat that he was sleeping and I was "busting balls." He proceeded to be extra grouchy and fight with me over hamburgers, and we currently are taking a break and watching tv in dif rooms. Ugh, men sometimes.....sometimes I feel like I have a 5 year old child, not a fiance, lol.

Anyone else have things like this to share?

Re: Pet Peeves

  • My FI complained the other day about lack of counter space in the kitchen and how my pocketsized notebook that I record everything I eat in was taking up too much space. So I was nice and moved it. But ever since there's been nothing but his stuff clogging up the counters. Yesterday I moved his gallon thing of whey protein, his watch, the scissors he gets all sticky from cutting open freeze pops, three packs of gum and the gallon of ice tea that condensed and got the counter top soaked. And he gave me a hard time about my one little notebook! Now everytime he puts things down on the counter, I move them to somewhere so he doesn't know where they are. Passive aggressive, I know, but his hypocrisy made me really annoyed.

  • Haha Cnf you sound just like me! I'm constantly cleaning up the counters after my FI. He leaves his giant lunch cooler, gallons of protein, bills and junk mail and tools all over the kitchen counter. I've started throwing everything in his office, which he doesn't even use, so when he goes looking for things he can't find them. Oh and not to mention the trail of clothes he leaves all over the living room!

  • OMG cnf, my FI is the exact same way about counter space. On our kitchen counter he will leave his car keys, wallet, work ID, sunglasses, cellphone, whatever hat he was wearing. I like leave my cell phone and he complains,...um really? and my personal favorite is when FI drops his dirty clothes next to the hamper, but not in it. Come on now.

This!! My fiance leaves garbage laying around everywhere. The other thing he does that drives me insane is that no matter what he has going on all day, he will wait until 15 minutes before we have to walk out the door to go somewhere to get into the shower. And he takes 30 minute showers (WTH?! I have an eff ton more hair than he does, and I've got to shave and do all that girl stuff, and I shower in HALF that time!!), so we're always late for everything. ALWAYS. It's to the point that I just lie to him about what time we need to be somewhere, so we've at least got a shot at being there on time.

Oh I agree! It is like my fiance won't clean up our bedroom or anything. I asked my fiance to watch our son last night so I could go to a baseball game. He said I am starting a game. Uggg! He doesn't even do laundry sometimes. I love the guy but sometimes.

</div><div>I can't stand that! It is a hamper for dirty clothes how hard is it to put them in there. My FI does it all of the time. My biggest is that he leaves his shoes in the middle of the floor and I trip over them. He also leaves the cabinets open in the kitchen, which drives me up the wall! He says he is just going to have to open them later so why close them. Men are so frustrating sometimes. </div>

  • MrsK, I totally feel you! Except for FI and I I hate Scarlett Johanson (or however the eff you spell her dumb name). I caught FI eyeballing those naked pictures of her that leaked last year and got upset becasue I was literally sitting right next to him. Umm, hello, inconsiderate much? So now whenever we watch a movie and she's in it I get pissy, haha.

FI was doing dishes this morning and complained loudly about how I always leave glasses and bottle half full and it's so annoying (just dump it out, your washing the dishes anyway, what difference does it make). So I said "well, if we're going to call each other out on annoyances then I'm going to ask why you have two towels hanging up upstairs and why their hanging over the upstairs railing. It bugs me that you put them there because if you hang wet towels on teh wooden railing it's going to get ruined". His defence was it was better then leaving them in a ball on the floor. Seriously..? How about you hang them up in the bathroom, on the new towel bars you installed. He said he only makes it as far as the railing, but he has to pass the bathroom to get downstairs, so he's totally full of it.

My FI just moved in... it is DEFINATELY an adjustment lol...I am trying not to get mad at things but sometimes I just have to take a deep breath and remind him not to do something.. If the garbage is full, he doesn't start another bag or take it out, he just piles things on top.. it took egg shells being on the floor of my laundry room to point this out to him lol.. The other thing that drives me absolutely batty is when he takes a shower, he'll leave the faucet stopped so that it immediately goes to the shower head.. I'll go to turn the water on first thing in the morning to get ready for work and it will scares the sh*& out of me every time..

Edit: he also uses more shampoo than I do.. and my hair is LONG

  • For me the biggest thing is that my FI always waits until we are in bed and almost asleep before he starts a "serious" conversation. Like if he has an issue with something, he won't say it right away but wait until bed time, and he does it every.single.time. Drives me insane! And I've told him that a hundred times, too!

As I was reading through and thinking about my reply, I was thinking this. This morning, I found FI's dirty clothes on top of the hamper. He couldn't open the lid to drop them in. He just set them on top. Seriously!? Ugh...
I basically would have to agree with everything you girls are saying.  The thing that REALLY bothers me are the double standards FI has.  And he admits to it, too.  It pisses me off so bad, but I just started ignoring them.  Like, if I point out that Rick Porcello (one of the pitchers for the Tigers) is hot (and he is, look him up) he'll get mad and tell me the bartender at the bar he goes to (that I HATE) is hot.  Like... I'm never going to even meet Porcello, but you know I fvcking HATE Renae, and we both know her in real life. Ugh I'm getting all worked up just talking about her lol
    Posted by mrskaiser22
<div>Rick Porcello is not so bad to look at, lol. But I have always enjoyed looking at Grady Sizemore, although I don't even know if he still plays. Used to be on the Clevland Indians, look him up with you get a chance.</div><div>
</div><div>But FI does something similar to me too, except he picks celebs. Like, when I mentioned Gray Sizemore, he'll flip on a channel and be like "she's hot" or he'll say "I wanna see Jessica Biel in Summer Catch in the scene where she goes in the pool in the rain in her undies." It's like whatever, don't be jealous.</div>
