NWR: Neighbor Rant

Sorry ladies but I have to get this off my chest. I HATE my new neighbors!! They moved in 5 days ago and I'm already ready to throttle them. They're 3 21yo girls and I'm not that much older than them (25) but I'm a quiet person. They live above us and the last 3-4 days they've been playing they're music so loud I can hear the words, or just tons of bass, which I can't stand. The walls and our ceiling are paper thin which was explained to them when they moved in and I've asked them to turn it down but I feel like I'm raining on their parade. But seriously when I can hear their music over my tv for 3 hours, it's an issue. I just wish I had the money for a house, or quieter neighbors. Ugh

Re: NWR: Neighbor Rant

  • I totally know about annoying neighbors. We have a condo and our neighbors on one side are just always causing problems. Seriously, call the cops and file a noise complaint if it keeps up. I dont care about raining on peoples parades anymore! My FI is a cop in the city we live in, the neighbs are aware of it and still continue to be loud, so that means we will keep calling.

  • I know how that feels. We rent and we always make sure to live on the second floor. (every apartment we've ever had are always only 2 floors) The first apartment we lived in together we were on the first floor and two very thin very young girls lived above us. Even though they were tiny thin girls they were heavy-footed. (if that's even a word) It sounded like elephants lived up there! Very heavy walkers. And they also played their music really loud. And if only one of them were home the other would play her music even louder! Never again will I live on the first floor. I can't wait to buy our own house. No more renting!

Buying a house was the best decision I've ever made. T&D, I agree about the heavy-footed tiny girls too. One of my college roommates was like 95 pounds, but when she went up and down the stairs in our house she stomped her feet SO LOUD. It was insane.

  • Is this there 1st time living away from their parents?

Hopefully this will die down shortly when they realize how many people they are making angry. Hopefully.

I lived in a condo for years growing up and I disliked all the noise. We were on the ground floor as well so we had noise surrounding us in addition to the constant traffic noise in the hallway leading to the parking lot. Kids used to think that the long hallway was a great place to yell/scream and run... sooooo much noise alllll the time!

Then FI's house (when he lived at home) was a semi-detached house and their neighbours would be SOOO loud all the time (screaming kids 24/7, construction, the tv, and the list goes on!) When FI and I decided to buy a house, we knew we wanted detached. We are soooo happy haha

    Good luck :(

  • When I lived in a condo I used to be the Queen of Post-its. I would leave those things everywhere. I didn't care if I was going to hurt someone's feelings because they hurt mine with constantly waking me up in the middle of the night and stomping around like elephants.

Looking back on it now, it was a douchey(sp?) thing to do but at the time I didn't care. I'd leave little notes about anything. I remember one was something like "Thanks for slamming your doors and screaming at each other until 5am. I'm glad you guys resolved your fight. Now break up, move away and let the rest of us get our damn sleep."

  • LOL Klyn, that is a fantastic idea. I have done that in parking lots, I wont lie. I have left something along the lines like "thanks for parking like a douche and taking up 3 parking spots"

  • I knew I wasn't the only one who has had to deal with neighbor BS but it was good to hear everyone else's stories. They've been better about it for the last 2 days butI think we'll need to have a little sit down with them just in case.

Kly- that's too funny! I never thought to do it to neighbors but I've left some on people's cars like sparkles. In case anyone wants/needs another site to waste time on http://www.passiveaggressivenotes.com/ is great.
