Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

Time

Hello! We are having an outdoor wedding in NC. September 7, 2013 is our day!!! : just wandering what would be a good time for the wedding to start if we aren't serving a full meal?

Either 2 pm or 8 pm.

  • Yup, 2pm or 8pm.

What you are offering food-wise must match the time of day.  So, if you were to have a wedding at 5pm and the reception lasted from 6pm to 11pm, you need to serve a full meal.

However, if your wedding is at 2pm and reception lasts from 3pm to 5pm, then you're not in a meal time and can serve less food.  People can eat lunch before showing up and dinner after they leave.  Same with an 8pm ceremony - people will have time to eat dinner before hand.

Some people will say that 8pm is not late enough for people who typically eat dinner on the later side or are coming from work (if this wedding is on a Friday), but I think pushing the ceremony to 9pm is just too late to start everything.  But, that's my opinion.
