Tree cermony

I found this script online. Anyone proof read it and maybe have any ideas on how to make this better if any?

Celebrant: Rachel and James will now take part in a Tree Ceremony, which will be planted in the yard of their home together.  This ceremony symbolizes the roots of their relationship, and the continued growth of their love, as they become each other's family today.

Love is the essence of human experience and emotion. It is the root of all and everything we, as humans, do. Love richens our experience, and fills our lives with meaning. It gives us a firm base from which to grow, to learn, and change.

Let your relationship and your love for each other be like this tree you water today. Let it grow tall and strong. Let it stand tall during the harsh winds and rains and storms, and come through unscathed. Like a tree, your marriage must be resilient. It must weather the challenges of daily life and the passage of time. And just like the tree you are planting, marriage requires constant nurturing and nourishment.

Rachel and James, would you please water the sapling?

Rachel and James water the sapling.

Celebrant: Remember to nourish each other, with words of encouragement, trust, and love. This is needed on a daily basis so you each can grow and reach your fullest potential - just like this tree

FTR, tree ceremonies aren't my style (exchanging rings/vows was all of the pomp and circumstance that DH & I wanted). I think they're kind of silly.

Anyways. I like the wording for what it is. Except for the word "sapling". Just call it a tree.

  • Never heard of it before but I like the idea of it and your wording sounds nice. You can really play up the tree theme if you wanted too on your invites and decorations
  • we chosse a flowering cherry tree because of the pink flowers. and pink is one of our wedding colors. I agree sapling sounds weird ahha thanks ill have to change that.
  • i have never heard of a tree ceremony with a wedding at all..cute.

  • That's cool, because we have been contemplating the same idea! Our only worry is what if we move some day in the future and can't take the tree! I love your wording. Beautiful!
