Programs

Ladies,
Tell me what you think. My hubby and I are renewing our vows next year on a cruise. The ceremony will take place in the chapel onboard. Because this is a vow renewal I am thinking of making simple programs mounted on small keepsake fans for my guest. Do you all think that would be to much being that this is a vow renewal and not a full wedding? This will replace party favors that are normally given at wedding receptions.

Re: Programs

  • I think it's fine to have them if you want. It would be nice to have a fan of some sort if there's a chance it will be warm and if you want to have those fans double as a program, I think that's great. But don't consider them a favor (FWIW, favors are never required for weddings or vow renewals).

  • I agree with Summer. I would use it during the ceremony if it were warm, but don't get offended if you see people throw them away after. Most people really don't want a "keepsake" from someone's wedding.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

Sounds fine if you want to. Please don't think of them as a "keepsake" for your guests though. Trust me, I love everything about weddings, and even I would toss the fan or leave it behind.

Not sure yet. But i will be something really simple that incorporates our names and the date.

  • While the fans themselves without any message is a nice idea, given that this is a vow renewal and not a wedding, I have to admit that putting your names and the date on them is something I wouldn't do myself or want as a guest.
  • A piece of paper with your name on it isn't really a favor.
  • I'm doing program fans for our wedding, it will have the order of events and the bridal parties names.  We wanted fans because June in the valley of California can get toasty.  They are not favors, we actually are not doing favors.  I got some cheap paper and popsicle sticks and for $30 am making program fans.
