Groom's Gift Idea - Crazy Steelers Fan!

Okay so, I have thought about a gift for my groom for a while now, and I honestly can't think of anything better than TRYING to land us 2 tickets for a Steelers game next year. He is a giant Steelers fan, and has basically turned me into one. (I'm originally from Buffalo, so I really don't celebrate the Bills that often!) Anyways, I wanted to ask you local Pittsburgh-ers if you could tell me what the best way is to land some tickets? In the past, I've looked into getting them for his birthday or another occasion, but it's always so hard to find good tickets for a somewhat reasonable price. I don't mind paying what I'm sure will be a good chunk of money if the seats are awesome. I mean, I would prefer not paying a fortune, but that's just what they seem to always go for! He has never been to a game, but he lives and breathes this team! I know that he will practically faint when he opens a card with tickets in them, and I know it will just mean so much to him! If any of you have any tips or ideas on how I could find tickets for next year, that would be awesome! I know there's Stub Hub and E-Bay, but I thought I'd ask just in case any of you had some tricks up your sleeves! Also, if you could tell me where it is best to sit at Heinz Field, that would be great as well! I have been to plenty of Bills games, but don't know if the seating arranagement is different in Pittsburgh?

Like I said, any advice would be so helpful!! I really appreciate it, and so will my fiancé, IF I can pull this off! :)

Re: Groom's Gift Idea - Crazy Steelers Fan!

  • My FI is a hugh Penguins fans, I asked him about your question, his response was " I really dont like to get tickets as a gift because its a one time use thing. I would rather have a signed jersey, game used jersey, maybe a football helmet, soemthing along them lines." But he goes to a hand full of Penguins games a year, I know the Steelers tickets are harder to get, and cost a lot more money. Maybe get him a Steelers Recliner, or something like that....Hope this Helps Good Luck.
  • Hi there- Both H and I are huge steeler fans. I get him tickets as a gift a lot. If I don't know anyone selling them, then I get them on stub hub. They will have a seating chart of sections for you on there too. My advice would actually be to go to a higher section. We used to sit in section 528 out those weren't avaiable. I bought him section 119, 7 rows from the field and they were actually worse tickets, it was hard to see the other end of the field. Even though the 500s are higher, we could see more. Hope that helped.

  • Thank you, ladies! I know that tickets are a "one-time" thing, but I know that the memories of it would last forever with him. He has 3 jerseys and a lot of memorabilia already, so I just think another something like that will be just okay. I know he'd love anything I got hime because he's that kind of person, but if I can score the tickets, then I know it would be his dream gift. I took him to a Michigan game for his birthday 2 years ago, and he was like a kid in a candy store the whole time we were in Ann Arbor. I would definitely make a weekend out of it, so it wasn't just like a 4-hour trip.

Thanks for the seating ideas - I will check that out on Stub Hub! I figured sitting a little higher would be better. If you don't mind me asking, what do you tend to pay for two tickets off of Stub Hub for good seats?
