Things for kids to do

I want to do something the week before the wedding with the children that are in the wedding so they can all meet and play. I don't think meeting at a rehearsal dinner is the best place for them to get to know each other. I'm wondering if anyone has good ideas. Two children live in ft. Worth, one in Allen, and one is my soon to be stepson so he'll be staying with us in Dallas that week. Does anyone know of any somewhat central place we could go to that both boys and girls would enjoy? I haven't been living in the area for a while, and it's been even longer since I was a child here so I can't come up with any good ideas.

Depending on the time of year, there is a GREAT park downtown with lots of food trucks, exhibits, and a playground. Klyde Warren park. It's brand new, and very nice.

Alot of kids like to play at the playground in the Galleria mall.  Also, if you're willing to go to Ft. Worth, the Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History has an excellent children's area.  We actually have a membership to it now and we live in Dallas.  You could also do a day pass at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.

There's a really neat children's museum at Fair Park, but it can be kind of crazy - not really a meet and greet type situation. There's too much going on.

How old are they?  A lot depends on that.  If they are all under 8 or so, I would vote taking them someplace like Pump it Up (indoor bounce house place...there are a couple in North Dallas) or Chuck E. Cheese.  The key is finding something physical to do at that age.  Children's museums are cool, but honestly most kids I've met don't enjoy them nearly as much as we do as adults, and the whole parking downtown and/or public transportation thing is a real PITA with kids.

If they are a little older, a museum might work.  The Dallas Aquarium is also always cool for older kids...Galleria for ice skating could be fun, too.  Or just take them to see a movie.

Don't spend too much money.  My experience with kids has been that the big huge planned events I have done usually are not as fun for the kids as little things like the bounce house place and fro-yo.  They will be excited just to get out and do something with someone who is not their parent.

They range in age from 18 months to 7, including siblings who would probably also attend to play. A museum would never work because my stepson and my nephew are both not interested in that. They do like things like aquariums and zoos but not just a plain museum. The girls are more interested in museums but the boys, no way. It's not that I have no experience with kids, I'm a teacher and part time nanny, and also have been raising my soon to be stepson since he was about a year old. It's just I live in Ohio now so I am out of touch with Dallas things for kids to do. Other than things like swimming (the boys also don't swim...crazy boys), zoos, etc. I'll look into the bouncy place though, we have those here in Ohio and the kids all like it here.
