church ceremony music

I called my church's music department a few months ago to reserve an organist for my July wedding.  The director called back within a week and said that he passed my number along to the guy I was requesting and that he would be in touch with me.  I'm now about 3 months away and I still have not heard from him.  So my question is, when do you typically pick your music with your organist for your ceremony?  If it is still early, I will wait a little longer to hear from him.

I picked out my music about 2 months out. Of course, I didn't book the ceremony musicians until about 3 months beforehand.... I would definitely call him to touch base- you don't necessarily need to pick everything out this second, but it'd be nice to actually hear from him and confirm that he can play at your wedding.

I've sung at about a dozen weddings, and usually the bride will meet with my music director about a month before the wedding. If you haven't heard from him at all, however, you might want to make want to touch base with him. Depending on what sort of ceremony you're having, you might have to abid by certain rules. For example, in a Catholic Mass, you are not supposed to have recorded music, and no secular music is to be played during the Mass.

Ok so I guess all I needed to do was ask this question.  Because today my organist called and confirmed he could play. :)
