honeymoon help tropical location!!

Hey so my fi and I want to go away somewhere tropical but we can't really figure out where to go specially since originally we were thinking we would only go to Niagara falls canada but I finally convinced him that this is our one and only honeymoon we should go somewhere to enjoy us that's new and relaxing. We were looking at Dominican republic but finding the right resort has been hard we don't want to go to mexico our ideal honeymoon would have been bora bora but our budget just doesn't fit that. So here is some info I want honest opinions of locations you have gone to. I love food its one of the most important things to me so the resort needs to have good food and drink we want it to be all inclusive which includes food drink flight hotel and activities we want a place with good service and nice rooms as we may spend a lot of time in it for obvious reasons and well its suppose to be high hurricane season. We are getting marries October 26 and will want to leave between then end of October beginning of November for 7-10 days our budget is 3000-3500 but would rather stay below we would like for it to have a nice clean beach couples only resorts would be nice but not necessary I know I can talk with a travel agent and I will but if I have some ideas for hotels and actual reviews from people who stayed there before I talk to her. I have looked at trip advisory but I need ideas of hotels and will look up those hotels for others opinions

  •   I went to Dominican in 2009, and stayed at the NH Real Arena, which I believe now they've changed the name to Larimar Punta Cana. I really enjoyed the resort, as well as the food and activities they offered! Obviously excursions were extra, but the hotel offered a lot of free activities as well, and posted times and locations of everything they offered that you could partake in. They had a massive buffet, and I believe 4 restaurants otherwise. American, Italian, French and Asian. Food and service were great! I would recommend making dinner reservations for the formal restaurants the first day you arrive, for the week, as they do fill up quick! The resort was clean, and if you chose to stay on the resort for your entire stay, they offered lots to keep you busy! Lots of bars, including a sports bar & disco, bowling alley, shopping centre, small theatre, etc. I'm not too sure what the prices are looking like now, but  I believe with taxes included, for flight, hotel stay, transporation, food/drink, & hotel activities, we spent $2800 for the both of us. (Which I didn't think was bad for a 4star resort). It's not a couples only resort, but I may have seen 2 kids the entire week. I also don't think they offer much for children anyways.

Good luck in searching for your honeymoon destination!! We 'just' booked ours a few weeks ago to Costa Rica! (Also a location you may want to look into, that we found within the budget you posted). ;) Have fun!
  • what hotel did you look at in costa rica i love the thought of costa rica but didn't think the weather would be good.

  • The weather in Costa Rica in Oct/Nov should be fine. The rain season there is in our summer months. There are 2 Riu resorts, and an Occidental Grand I would recommend looking into. Either of which are great chains! I believe one's a 4 star, and the other is a for the Riu's. The Occidental is a 4star. Either of these 3 I think would make great honeymoon destinations. :) Our 2 picks were Costa Rica and Aruba for our honeymoon. (Both have Riu's and Occidental's). Aruba was a little higher in price, but not incredibly higher than Costa Rica. We leaned more towards Costa Rica because of the rain forest atmosphere, volcanos etc. My fiancé and I are both outdoorsy people, so for us Costa Rica seemed a little more adventurous and a lot of the excursions offered were more up our alley. :) It doesn't say where you're from under your profile pic, but if you are able to go to Cuba, that's another amazing destination! It's incredibly affordable, & you can safely walk around the towns and get that local experience. We wanted to go somewhere neither of us have been, or Cuba would have definitely been on our list! :)
  • It's supposed to say one Riu is a 4star, and the other is a 5. Wouldn't let me correct it for some reason before posting. :P
  • thank you i will look into those. i'm from canada and the same with us we want a place that we can go outdoors have an adventure as well as relax costa rica sounds perfect.

  • Ah, you're from Canada too! ;) I'm really happy with choosing Costa Rica, & definitely look forward to leaving! We have a countdown going on our fridge already! Lol. Good luck deciding on your honeymoon destination! Hopefully my suggestions helped a bit. :) You'll have to let me know where you decide to go!
