Oregon Coast?

We live in Sacramento, CA (northern CA) and are getting married on august 3, 2013. Unfortunatly because of my fiance's work schedule we can only take a 4 day honeymoon, which means we will likely stay closer to home for our honeymoon. We are thinking about the Oregon coast (came across an article about an oregon coast vacation) and was wondering if anyone is familure with this area and has suggestions about where to stay and things to do. We are on a budget and trying to keep the cost reasonable ;)

Oooommg Oregon coast is BEAUTIFUL. I lived in Washington state for college and then some, and used to visit my family in Monterey, CA all the time. I would often take the coast.. It's just so dang pretty!

    >Astoria is beautiful.

    >Seaside is the beach town that everyone in Washington vacations to.
    -The Twisted Fish Steakhouse
-The Inn at Four winds is a beautiful B&B
-The Gilbert Inn is also a beautiful B&B and cheaper
    - The Tillamook Head trail is a beautiful hike

    >The Tillamook factory is AWESOME to tour (and free)

    >Newport Oregon has a BEAUTIFUL lighthouse and great ocean to wander. Here are a couple pictures from our last road trip.. It's right on the highway along the coast so you can't miss it!

I think Crescent City is just.. bleh.. overrated.. suuuper touristy and really has no uniqueness about it to make it worth stopping there for.

ETA: errors made by the dumb ipad.

    OMG Also,

McMenamins is an Oregon company that takes old buildings and turns them into awesome hotels without ruining the integrity of said building. ^ That one is one on the coast and I have no experience with it, but we have stayed a LOT a the ones in Portland because they are just so fun!
For example: The Kennedy School was an old school house so it's still set up that way. They usually have a bunch of bars in the building in theme (at the kennedy school there were bars like "detention" "recess" "PE" etc) and they aadd something fun. The Kennedy school has a movie theatre that you can bring your food and booze into, where you sit on big comfy couches!
The rooms are always really relevant to the history of the building, but always beautiful and clean. The food has always been fantastic, and the people super friendly.

SUPER worth checking out! You will NOT be disappointed.

  • Awesome thank you for the suggestions! it looks so pretty! we have never been to Oregon, can't wait!
  • I love the Oregon Coast! One of my favorite places in the entire world is the town of Cannon Beach. There are several hotels and B & Bs in Cannon Beach that would make a perfect honeymoon spot including the Stephanie Inn, Surfsand Resort, and the Ocean Lodge. Make sure to check out Ecola State Park, where you will be rewarded with amazing views of the ocean!
  • Oh man now I want to go to the Oregon coast! One day for vacation :-)
  • I am from Seattle and we did part of the Coast for my birthday last year.
We drove to Portland (I love their downtown food carts). Then drove to Rockaway beach. We also went to Newport Aquarium, which was awesome. Tillamook factory is fantastic. I wish we spent more time in Cannon Beach, and if you make it to Astoria due make sure to go to the Goonies House and the view point tower.
  • Oh & I forgot Pig n' Pancake.
  • My fiance' just suggested this option last night.  BUT, we are now also considering San Diego and Key West... BUT, I have never been to Oregon, and it sure sounds lovely after reading this...
  • There are also lots of living social deals and groupon escapes for Oregon Coast. :)
