El Dorado Casitas Royale or Excellence Playa Mujeres

Hi all! We have time as our wedding isn't until June 2014 but Fiance & I are trying to decide on our honeymoon destination. We want an all inclusive resort on the beach and would love one with a wide variety of restuarants & activities. We don't want to spend more than $3000 total.

Has anyone been to the following?

Excellence Playa Mujeres in Cancun

Is anyone familiar with Cancun in June? I'm hearing thats the beginning of rainy season...

Rainy season, if you can really call it that, is Oct-Nov. I would not let the thought of rain deter you, as it can rain at any time in the tropics. When it is the so-called rainy season, it may rain more but mostly later in the day or at night. June is the start of hurricane season, but it's the very start and getting a storm then would be rare. Again, do not let it deter you. Other than that, I have not been to either of those resorts, but both are highly rated. My brother and his FI are staying at El Dorado in July and they seem very pleased with their decision on that resort.

Both have excellent reviews and I haven' been to either but I did just book our 1st aniversary trip to excellence pm.
For our honeymoon we stayed at Secrets Maroma, weloved it, but we met some couples that said they had been the El dorado for a wedding and were now at Secrets for a vacation. They felt that it was really nice, they moved only for a change of scenery. But they said the El Dorado was much livlier tha Secrets. I believe Secrets and EPM are long the same lines of "lively" ness and so i think if you are looking for a bit more action, more shows, more people interaction etc then El Dorado would be a good choice. They said the food between El Dorado and Secrets was the same.
I know its not on your list but i LOVED secrets.
We are also from Rhode Island and for an August honeymoon it cost us $3500 for 7 nights flying from Providence-- but that included a swim up room, the other rooms were less expensive.

Also, we are paying around $2500 for 6 nights this year at EPM or our anniversary. this is just for the standard junior suite, you an upgrade to the swim up or the terrace room (with private pool) for a few hundred dollars more- so that is def. in your budget.

(as a side note, my coworker went both to EPM and secrets and preferred EPM because of its privacy and seclusion)

ps. don't worry about the rainy season, we went right before hurricane sandy, we were totally fine, and it did rain but it was usually from 6-7 at night and it would clear up after. This was perfect, because we were usually getting ready for dinner then and it helped cool it down a bit.

Hello, I am going through the same Honeymoon "dilemma" as you right now.  We actually met with a travel agent yesterday and she highly recommended Excellence Riviera Cancun in Riviera Maya.  The agent is actually staying there this fall.  I went out to Trip Advisor last night and there are more than 5100 reviews of the resort 4.5 out of 5 stars.  We were quoted approx. $1900 pp for 7 nights, upgraded to the Excellence Club swim up junior suite, plus honeymoon pkg.  Our suite will have its own private patio, hammock and an outside hot tub.  The reviews from Trip Advisor really helped me seal the deal and put any hesitation to rest.  From the reviews, upgrading to the Excellence Club pkg is a must as you get more amenities and its more private for couples.  Most of the reviews mentioned how wonderful the customer service was and how the employees new their faces and names, making it a very personable stay.

We were at El Dorado Casitas in Nov 2011. Loved it. Find my review on Trip Advisor. I am jefritz on Trip Advisor. We are going to Excellence Playa Mujeures on May 12th. My bf, now fiance stayed at Excellence Playa Mujers.  It was AMAZING!  It's great for a honeymoon, and since we took it as a regular trip we are having a hard time finding an amazing honeymoon spot.  They upgraded us to the Excellence Club for free when we checked in.  The food was amazing, it was pure luxury!!!
