Punta Cana food

Hey girls so me and my fianc would like to goto punta cana and stay all inclusive my biggest worry is the food being bad he definitly likes good food so if anyone can recommend a resort that you had good experience at it would be appreciated! Thank you

Re: Punta Cana food

  • i thought the food was fine. i went ages ago and it was the first time i ate goat.
why would you assume the food would be bad there and not anywhere else?

  • We went to Excellence (or Secrets Excellence, maybe?) in Punta Cana. It was AI and had 7 restaurants to choose from. Some were only open for dinner, some were lunch and dinner, etc. The food was really good. I mean, it's not going to be 5 star dining, but it's definitely not McDonald's.

I'm not sure why you assume the food will be bad. Are you just afraid of Dominican food? Because it's not going to be Dominican food. Most AIs have a range of food options, like Mexican, French, Italian, Asian, American, Buffet, etc. Our resort had all that, and then I think once or twice a week they did a Dominican night on the pool deck where it was more "authentic" food, but the other restaurants were still open if you didn't want to partake.

<div>We also stayed at the Excellence.  Overall, the food was good and their was a large variety of restaurants.  There were a couple of times we were a little disappointed because the food wasn't quite what we were expecting -- like when we ordered sausage pizza, and it was more of a hot dog pizza.  A couple times we ordered room service late at night and it took a while and wasn't great.  Overall, we were satisfied with the food, though, and we certainly never went hungry.</div>
  • Hey there :)

Punta Cana is definitely a great vacation spot! The quality of food can depend on the quality of resort you stay in. I went in 2009, and stayed at the 'NH Real Arena', which I believe they have now changed the resort name to 'Larimar Punta Cana.' It's a 4 star resort right on the beach. Was clean, staff were friendly, & it had an all around great atmosphere! There was a *huge* buffet, as well as 3 or 4  fancier restaurants. The food & service was great! I definitely have no complaints, and would recommend the resort for that alone! I believe it was French, Italian, American and Japanese restaurants there. The buffet had a little of everything from all over, and was well maintained. I'm not too sure what the prices are looking like now, but I think I paid just over $1400, taxes in for flight + all inclusive hotel stay for one week. I definitely don't think you or your fiance would be disappointed here!

Good luck with your honeymoon search! :)
