DJ suggestions - non-cheesy please

I'm looking for DJ suggestions. The one I wanted isn't available :(
I don't want a cloud to dance on or corny jokes. I do want good music, reliable, professional equipment and can keep the flow going smoothly.
Who should I use or NOT use??
Thanks!!

Re: DJ suggestions - non-cheesy please

  • I am using Buckeye Entertainment. I haven't had my wedding yet but I have heard good things about them. They were really great when I met them. They will get pretty much any music you ask for. They have an online feature where you can pick out what music you want for certain things. It's very convenient and easy to use.
  • We are using MegaBeats DJ, they did two of our friends weddings, and we were really impressed. He's been very friendly when we've met and talked through email. Here's the website:
  • Matt Ryan is fabulous and really reasonable!  Here is his web address: http://www.mattryandj.com/content/dj_content.html.  He has done so many weddings and other events that I have been a part of.  Check him out!  You will not be sorry.

  • I second the recommendation for Buckeye Entertainment.  We worked with Byron the owner and chose DJ Andrew Wade as our DJ.  He was phenomenal!! They have an awsome website that allows you to customize and personalize your event as much or as little as you want to.  They were also fabulous about scheduling meetings and being flexible while working with us since we live out of state now.
Wade was great, he had the dance floor packed from cocktail hour all the way until the Venue was kicking us out, kept to the schelue we had planned out, and made everything flow wonderfully (and nothing was corny or cheesy!)  He did the music for the ceremony too! They had a great selection of music to pick from and made excellent suggestions in areas that we really didnt have major opinions about.
Buckeye Ent also provided the Photobooth for our wedding...which let me say was one of the biggest hits.  We got a ton of compliments afterwards from family and friends about how fun, yet professional this group was!

  • I'm getting ready to set up a meeting with Buckeye Entertainment.   @photokitty, What made you choose them over the others?  They have the cheapest prices I've seen and the DJ is not a priority for me (we were debating DIY but didn't want the hassle) so I want a decent DJ for the lowest price we can find.

He was the cheapest. I wanted someone a little more upbeat and involved, but fiancé just wanted music and keep everything moving along. Byron was good at that, very accommodating on getting songs he didn't have.
The other reason, the Photo Booth. I LOVE IT! Best thing ever! And with the photo booth he was still cheaper than other DJs I looked at.
I would not DIY bc I wanted someone to be able to make announcements. He also did the ceremony music. And if your venue doesn't have built in sound system you'd have to rent speakers.
    GL!

  • We booked him!  He seems like a great guy and his price is very reasonable.
