Average Cost?

Hello!  I am 14 months away from my wedding date, but am curious-what is the average cost for a wedding cake?  We are expecting NO MORE than 150 people.

Also, any ideas on a hairstylist?  I was quoted $300 for her to come to my house and style me....is this a good price or should I keep looking??

Thanks-and congrats to you all!!

Re: Average Cost?

  • My suggestion for cake is to ask people if they know someone who does it out of home... we found a great lady about 40 minutes from our venue and shes doing our cake for almost half the price of what bakers were asking.

And I would definitely be looking around for other hair stylists! $300 is a TON!!! and for only about $50 you can go get it done at the salon, that's worth saving $250 right there to me.

  • We had about 150 guests and our cake was around $350 but of course that was almost 3 years ago. Most of the estimates I got from other people were around $600-700 but we decided to go with a lady that doesn't really advertise and does her wedding cakes more on the side.

That price for hair seems a little steep to me. I would check around. And you might want to think about your stylist coming to your venue.
  • We are having about 130 people, cake will be $600.
  • My stylist is coming to my hotel and doing my hair for free, and charging my maids/mom $150 each.
  • Definitely keep looking around for hair and makeup. I think you can find a better price.

You might want to check out Giant Eagle Marketplace for cakes. Their prices are really reasonable and you can add on stuff like a candy bar, gelato, etc if you want some extras.
