Cheap Wedding/Gay Friendly Venues

My finacee Jess and I are trying to look into venues.  We have a small party of no more than 60 people. Our budget is tight.  I'm looking at having possibly 10,000 for the wedding as a whole.  Looking for a venue that would be around or under 5,000 with catering as we are the only one's funding and paying for the wedding. Our parents aren't in a place to help.  Also, have issue with menu for the reception as there are many individuals whom have allergies.  Myself included.  Onion, Shellfish, Gluten, Dairy, and tomatoes.

The feel I am looking for is country, but elegant.

Any recommendations for inside Rhode Island would be great and nearby Massachusetts.

Re: Cheap Wedding/Gay Friendly Venues

  • How about a restaurant?  We're having our rehearsal dinner at Chapel Grille & they are pretty reasonably priced (not sure if they jack up prices for weddings like everyone else seems to - but we're around $50/pp, not including booze).  You get your own room downstairs - private, with its own bar & opens to a patio outside.  They can seat up to 120, I believe, for a private event.  A restaurant might be better able to handle allergies, too.  I wouldn't call it country, but it's kind of rustic looking inside (wood chandeliers, etc.).

  • You could look at,
    Slater Mill in Pawtucket http://www.slatermill.org/facilityrental/
Five Bridge Inn in Rehoboth ma http://www.fivebridgeinn.com/
The Colonel Blackinton inn in Attelboro  http://www.colblackintoninn.com/events.ht-ml
I can really say about gay friendly but I am assuming that all venues want business no matter who is getting married.
  • Check out the Pawtucket Armory Arts Center.
  • I was at a wedding at Crystal Lake in Burrilville, The bride had a ton of food allergies, but their menu was great!  As far as same sex friendly, I concur that all good venues would want to do business with you or any other bride/groom/couple
  • I booked Venus de Milo in Swansea, MA (cheaper taxes than RI) with a nice menu and the ability to bring in our own special foods as we're multi-cultural.  They will probably be able to accommodate something for your needs.  It was under $5,000 for over 125 people, taxes and gratuity included.
  • Thanks for these suggestions. Pawtucket Armory Arts Center and Solitude Springs are two venues I've never heard of.
