Fun Question

Now that my wedding attire is starting to come together, I got to thinking about what I would be wearing that would be blue, borrowed, etc...

So I thought I would take a little poll!

What are you guys wearing (or wore if you are already hitched) that is/was:

- New
- Blue
- Borrowed
- Old

I figure most people's new is the wedding dress, but I am curious to see what people put Tongue out

    - New - basically everything! lol I suppose I'll say my dress is the biggie... and my shoes.

    - Blue - still not sure. I wanted to get underwear made that were light blue that say Mrs. NewLastName est. May 28, 2011 but when I had my fitting the seamstress said to wear nude undergarnments b/c color can sometimes be seen under the dress - so I guess I'm not sure about the blue. I think I might get a 'tag' made with my new last name and date in blue thread (sold on etsy)

    - Borrowed - I'm borrowing my grandma's rosary beads to wrap around my bouquet

    - Old - My god mother got me a bonnet when I was baptized that transforms into a hankie that I will keep with me. I am also hoping to get a bit of lace from my mom's wedding gown to wrap around my bouquet.

    - New - like g said pretty much everyone I'm wearing - but i'll specifically point out my shoes.. sigh because i love them.

    - Blue - my MOH is giving me her Penn State blue and white garter (which FI will prob not be a fan of he's a Pitt guy lol)

    - Borrowed - my grandmothers ruby ring. She passed away 10 years ago this year and I miss her daily. I will really mean a lot to me to wear something of hers onmy wedding day. My mom has it now so i guess it will be borrowed from my mom and my gram

    - Old - My mom's friend is doing my alterations for my dress and we are using the buttons from my mom's bustle for my bustle and potentially other little bits from her dress

G - thanks for the idea! DF and I are godparents for DF's niece that was just born and I have been trying to come up with ideas for things to get her when she is baptized next month that she will be able to have on her wedding day! I love the idea of a bonnet that turns into a hankie!

db - no problem! There was a really pretty poem with it that I can get my mom to send me the words to if you would like! Let me know!

g - aw that would be wonderful if you wouldn't mind!  her baptism isn't until the first weekend of April so whenever you get a chance to ask your mom will be fine. Thank you so much!

Old- I'm taking the sleeve of my Mom's wedding dress and wrapping my bouquet in it. :)

    Such fun ideas....

I still haven't decided on anything yet (besides the new part), but I might do my something blue by having mine and my FI's intials and our date written in blue glitter on the bottom of my shoes. I love having a little blue on the undies though :-)

For something old I might take my grandmother's handerchief and incorporate it somehow. She passed away when my dad was five, so I never even had the chance to meet her. It would be very significant for my family though if I could find something in there to add of hers.

I was going to wear my mother's long pearl necklace as my something borrowed, but it just doesn't go with my dress. So I need a new plan. My best friend is getting married in October, so we might give each other something borrowed.

    - New: Pretty much everything but I will say my dress & shoes.
    - Blue: "Mrs" underwear.
    - Borrowed: My mothers wedding band, that I will wear on my right hand.
    - Old: A photo of my dad that I will have in my bouquet memory charm.

    - New: Dress (FI would prefer that I say engagement ring!)
    - Blue: Considering dying shoes a pale blue; or I think FI is getting me drop earrings and/or a right hand ring with small diamonds and a light blue stone (forget what it's called, not topaz, lighter... it'll come to me!) as a wedding gift
    - Borrowed: possibly the crystals pins my sister wore in her hair on her wedding day
    - Old: My handbag is vintage, and I'm wrapping lace from my mom's veil around my bouquet.

Love the buttons idea above, need to ask my mom about that!  I have a friend that did the blue crystals on the bottoms of her shoes with their initials, so cute.

Good question! Haven't thought about that yet but I should since I only have 3 months and 2 days to go!
I like all of the ideas about using pieces of mother's and grandmother's gowns to wrap the bouquet.

What about the rest of the saying, I think it says something about "a sixpence in her shoe". That I have!

    New: Dress, the union itself
Blue: Shoes, although I like the "tag" idea above...Anyone know of particular Etsy shops?
Borrowed: a silver compact from my great-great grandmother loaned from my grandmother. I have to figure out how to incorporate it into the dress somehow (maybe sewing in an interior pocket somehow?)
Old: Pearl necklace that belonged to my great grandmother that my grandmother gave me several years ago and a ring (on my right hand) my great grandfather had made for the same great grandmother out of several stones from other rings in the family that was passed down and then given to me on my 18th birthday a decade ago...
    Married since May 12, 2012
