Question for you Ladies :)

Re: Question for you Ladies :)

  • Officially a couple 1.5 years before getting engaged, but I've known him for 14 years (since I was 8) and we were best friends. Laughing

  • We met in February 2008 and started dating in October 2009. We were together three years and one month prior to engagement and will be getting married the day after our four year anniversary.

  • We've been friends for 19 years. We got engaged a month before our 2year dating anniversary. :)

  • It looks like we dated the shortest time period of those who've replied.  We were in the same social circle and knew each other as distant acquaintances for about 6 years but I was with someone else.  He proposed 5 months after we began dating and we will have been together a little less than 2 years by the time we're married.  It has been smooth as butter and by far the easiest and most wonderful experience with the man of my dreams who lived 5 minutes away the entire time!
  • Holy random posters, batman. Where did all these people come from?

[QUOTE]We got engaged 2 years and 2 months in and married a year to the day after that. We're coming up on 5 years together in July (whoa!). While this would make a very interesting scatter chart (I obviously use Excel too much)<strong>, I think there are just so many factors that go into relationships that you can't really judge by other people's timelines.</strong>

    </div><div>I would agree with this.</div><div>
</div><div>I also have a theory that younger people should date a bit longer before getting engaged/married. I definitely side eye couples in their late 20s or early 30s a lot less if they get engaged or married after having dated a year or so. I side eye anyone who will have been dating less than a year before the wedding. </div><div>
</div><div>I dated my H for about 3.5 years before getting engaged; we were together over 4 years at the time of our wedding. This July will be our 3rd wedding anniversary. We started dating when we were 22 and 24, married at 26 and 28. </div><div>

I would have side-eyed couples who married after dating less than a year as well except my aunt and uncle literally met and married within 7 days (JOP of course)!  They just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.  So I don't side eye anyone anymore based on what the majority of other people do in terms of time.  There are exceptions to every rule and there's no way to really know which couples are the exception.
