Unity sand/candle

How important do ya'll think the unity candle/sand ceremony is? I've always assumed I'd do it, but it's not something that's at the top of my list. Has anyone gone to a ceremony where they didn't do it and actually miss it? Any opinions would be appreciated.

It was not important to us.  We didn't do one. They're pretty popular on here, particularly when there are kids involved.  It just wasn't something that really spoke to my heart - instead we wrote vows that we both liked and did a "regular" church service.

Thanks ya'll. I'm just kind of torn on it. If I'm honest with myself I don't really care if we do it or not. I've seen the wine box idea floating around and I think that's neat, but in the end I don't know if I want to have a ceremony in my wedding just because it's "neat", ya know?

Decisions...decisions lol.
