Searching for a rustic winter wedding venue

Hello everyone!
I thought I found the PERFECT venue for my January 2014 wedding...a beautiful rustic building at Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer in Frombell, PA (wooden walls covered in tall glass windows, stone fireplace...perfect for a romantic winter wedding).  This camp provides overnight summer camps for all kids (it is an inclusive camp for kids who have disabilities).  My background is special education & occupational therapy, so my fiance and I love the idea of putting money into a facility that will indirectly benefit the kids who go to camp.  And, there are also cabins where guests can stay overnight, which is a neat idea!
Long story short - the camp director told me they are only having weddings in March & September of 2014.....seriously?! That's so random! I was so bummed to hear this & now am trying to find another venue that is just as unique & fits my personal style.
Do you ladies have any suggestions of places in the Western PA/Pittsburgh or Northeast OH areas?  We need to accommodate about 200-230 guests & want to keep the cost as LOW as possible.
Thank you!! :)

  • The Mayernik Center in Avonworth (North Hills) is a big log cabin. It might fit what you're looking for.
  • don't know what you mean by as low as possible-- i believe the White Barn in Prospect PA is heated (not sure) they'd emailed me info but were too much for us. They are $4500 for a Saturday and $3800 for a Friday wedding [just for the space]--- although not sure if you could get a discounted price since you're having a January wedding.

Also, Betsy's barn in Potersville MIGHT be heated-- it's BEAUTIFUL so so so very pretty they charge per person there and do their own catering.

And YES Mayernik is cute! It's 2200 for the space and they allow you to chose from three different caterers that vary in price-- they only hold 225 [i think]

The Timber House is a venue we looked at they are actually a golf course but their venue is like a big log cabin and they have a little pond there very scenic-- they likewise charge per person and are about 10 dollars cheaper than Betsy's barn.

my fiance and I have been on this search for the past month since we got engaged--still to find our perfect venue. Hopefully January is a bit easier for availibility for you. best of luck!
  • I went to a "rustic chic" wedding this summer down at Oglebay...beautiful!
